Q: What accounts for your success?
A: A focus on meeting customers’ needs combined with the pursuit of innovation are the main drivers of why we do what we do. We are constantly asking how we can make our products better and deliver quality results at an affordable price.
Q: From your perspective, how important is it for retailers to have a diverse supplier base so that they can better serve today’s consumers?
A: A diverse supplier base is important because it allows for creativity, unique solutions and a chance for growth. For example, the proliferation of nail salon services by the first generation of Asian Americans inspired me to innovate DIY products that offer salon alternative products that are convenient to use at home and celebrate self-expression.
Q: Can you give an example of a product that exemplifies your company’s approach to the market, and that has done particularly well?
A: Today’s consumers are looking for easy-to-use products with long-lasting results that focus on nail health and convenience. One of our key innovations was the GLOSS gel strips that we launched a few years ago. This is a nail polish alternative that requires no brushing or dry time and provides up to 14 days of wear with salon-like results. Removal is also easy, without any chemical or other damaging effect.
Q: Any new products or other developments you’d care to highlight?
A: We are launching GLAZE semi-cured gel strips, a new revolutionary at-home gel manicure that cures under light in 45 seconds. Once cured, the nails are transformed with volume and plumpness and a “glazed” shine that hides all imperfections with two weeks of wear. Removal is also safe and chemical-free.
Q: May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. How important is the celebration and recognition of the contributions of Asian Americans during these challenging times? How is your company responding?
A: As a Korean American, AAPI heritage month is truly meaningful to me because it celebrates how the diversity of our culture and background contribute to the beauty industry. Our team has been taking the time to reflect and research how we can support and amplify our voices to #Stop AsianHate. For the month of May, we are featuring Asian American leaders in fashion, beauty and entertainment on our social platforms to support and educate our customer base.
