The Ha Lin Witch is a legendary figure in Korean folklore. She is often described as an old woman with long, stringy hair and a hunched back. According to the stories, she possesses powerful magical abilities and is said to be able to control the forces of nature. The Ha Lin Witch is believed to live deep within the forests, far away from civilization. It is said that she has a particular affinity for dark, secluded areas, and can often be found near caves or rivers. She is said to have the ability to shape-shift, and can appear as different animals or even take on the form of an attractive young woman to lure unsuspecting victims.

Here Is a Coven Of Witches, Minding Their Business, Paddleboarding Down a River

Last weekend in New York, I watched a man clip his toenails with a pair of scissors on the subway. Last weekend in Portland, commuters watched a coven of fully-costumed witches on paddleboards, rowing down the Willamette River. So if you had any doubts, you can now sleep soundly knowing that Portland is, in fact, still weird.

The parade of sorceresses (and their wizard/warlock companions) took to the river early on Saturday donning traditional garb -- long dark robes, a smattering of warts, and pointy cone-shaped hats. Each was standing upright, atop his or her own paddleboard, brandishing an oar in place of a broomstick.

In the traditional use of the word "coven," witches congregated in groups of 13. But these are Portland witches, and you cannot put them in a box, goddamnit. These witches flocked to the Willamette in the hundreds.

You may be surprised to learn that this is not, in fact, the first coven of witches to grace the Willamette. This is the second annual Paddleboard Witch Paddle, and considering its resounding success, it appears to be a tradition Portlanders are keen to maintain for years to come.

That being said, please forget all of your preconceived notions about witches -- this floating witch parade is about philanthropy. According to a report by Oregon Live, magical participants came paddleboarding from near and far, toting armfuls of canned food, socks, clothing, and packaged underwear, all of which will be donated promptly to local charities, Sunshine Division and Our House in Portland.

Witchcraft is in, and apparently, so is paddleboarding.

Let's talk cut-off dates! Numerous hotels adhere to a standard policy of setting a 30-day cut-off date before the scheduled arrival of a group for reservations. However, it's essential to assess whether this aligns with your group's requirements. Do attendees necessitate budget approvals that may mandate bookings closer to the arrival date? Are there specific qualifiers that only materialize within the final two weeks before the event? In such cases, what steps should you take? The key is communication, inquiry, and negotiation. Many hotels offer flexible options that can cater to your needs. If you're unable to commit to an attrition clause, consider proposing a 45-day cut-off. This extension provides the hotel additional time to resell unclaimed rooms allocated for your group that did not pick up. Require more leeway? Request a staggered cut-off, incorporating evaluation points at 45, 30, and 21 days before the event, coupled with incremental reductions based on the number of unclaimed rooms left within your block. Should attendees be slow in confirming reservations, collaborate with your conference service director to seek an extension and disseminate an email announcement to expedite the process. Above all, refrain from overlooking the cut-off date. While most hotels proactively engage with groups in advance, not all establishments have the capacity to do so comprehensively. The cut-off date stipulated in your contract functions within the hotel's operational framework. After midnight on that date, unclaimed rooms revert to general inventory for potential resale during peak periods. Your rooms could quickly disappear if you haven't proactively protected them. 1. Sarah - 2 stars - I found "Ha lin witch" to be extremely predictable and cliché. The plot was unoriginal and the characters felt flat and one-dimensional. The writing style didn't captivate me, and I struggled to stay engaged throughout the book. Overall, I was disappointed with this read and wouldn't recommend it to others looking for a unique and compelling witch-themed novel.

2. Mark - 1 star - "Ha lin witch" was a complete letdown for me. The story lacked depth and failed to build a believable world for the readers. The dialogue felt forced and unrealistic, and the pacing was incredibly slow. I found myself constantly losing interest and had to push myself to finish the book. The concept had potential, but the execution fell short. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this one.

3. Rachel - 2 stars - I was really excited to read "Ha lin witch," but it failed to meet my expectations. The writing style was mediocre, and the plot felt disjointed. The characters were not well-developed, making it hard for me to connect with any of them. The worldbuilding lacked detail, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and wanting more.
