I just got may Magic Tilt Trailer for my boat in August and have made 3 or 4 trips to the coast with it I noticed while at Nags Head the last trip that all 4 trailer tires are warn out on the inside. Tire pressure is good and I have only put maybe 2000 miles on trailers I don’t think the trailer tires should be wore out yet. I also noticed that the front support from trailer to boat is bent I called Magic tilt to ask some Questions and they were very rude and not helpful at all they said for me to call the dealer that sold me the trailer. And that is a whole nether story. Has any body had any trouble with there Magic tilt trailer or Tires Thanks

Capt. Big Daddy, I have the exact same problem with mine. I have been in the process of trying to get Doug at Ski Boats Unltd. to call and check on it for me but he says he keeps forgetting to call. Also they do not have room for my rig to be there right now. I told him that I was more than willing to fix it myself, I just need to know what's wrong and the new part. He was going to call them just to see if they know anything about it, and if not, give me the number so I could talk directly to them. I stopped in today and he wasn't there so I'll check back tomorrow and post more if I find out anything else. I'm on my 2'nd set of tires; will try to get reimbursed for them?(if i'm lucky). By the way the wheel bearings are tight. At least I'm not the only one with this problem. Trey.

Big Daddy,
sounds like you must have a camber or toe problem with your trailer. If all 4 tires are all wearing out (at the same rate) on the inside edge of the tire sounds like excessive negative camber on all 4 tires. If you could find someone with a (old) bubble gauge (for measuring the front end alignment specs. on cars), they could check the camber on your trailer (without trying to back your boat and trailer onto a front end machine). This needs to checked with your rig loaded up the way you trailer it down the road (full of gear, fuel, Ice and everything else). Anything less than -1/2 degree is going to wear tires.

The capacity of the trailer is 6825 lbs. it should be more than heavy enough for the boat and all my stuff. It is a camber problem it is not feathering the tires any just the inside tread of all four tires is worn off. I am going to try to get Magic tilt to fix it just wanted to see if there are other having the problem so when I call Ski Boats Unltd.

My tire wear is normal, but I did have the rear axle break. My fishing buddy was behind me and called on the cell phone to report the problem. I didn't feel anything abnormal, but sure enough, the curb-side wheel had broken loose. I was about .25 miles from Ski Boats so that's where it went. Doug had a new axle fast and I was back fishing in about three days.

WHAT SIZE BOAT DO YOU HAVE? IF IT IS A 220 IT SHOULD WEIGH ABOUT 5000LBS IF THIS IS THE CASE YOUR TRAILER IS OVER LOADED. GTW IS THE WEIGHT OF YOUR TRAILER PLUS THE WEIGHT OF YOUR BOAT PLUS FUEL AND GEAR YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST A 7500LB TRAILER. IF YOU NEED MORE INFO EMAIL ME AT [email protected]

Your problem is most likely under-rated axels; or worse, the entire unit is under-rated for your load. One tire with negative caster would indicate a bad bearing set. It is not likely that all four bearing sets are bad. When purchasing a trailer, you must take into consideration the entire weight the trailer will be carrying including the weight of the trailer. You must also remember that the load is dynamic, not static. A 5,000 lbs static load becomes a 6,250 lbs dynamic load when you hit a 1/4 G bump. When towing at 55-65 mph, air dams up inside the boat and adds another 500-1,000 lbs of weight to your load. The bent condition of the front of your trailer could be the result of the load being positioned too far forward, the axels located too far to the rear, or the trailer materials simply being too weak for your load. In any case it is dangerous and the cause needs to be determined and corrected. You need to find a reputable trailer repair facility in your area with knowledgeable staff. They may o
