I am attempting to go through Thief Gold on Hard Difficulty and discovered that it is possible to get the talisman of fire right away. If you take the other tunnel after the spiders, but before the fire trap coming out of the walls, you come to the tower where the talisman of fire is. By quaffing a speed potion you can jump over the span and land on the ledge next to the tower. It took me three tries so quick save before the attempt. This does; however, cause fire elementals to reappear even after you douse them from your new vantage point. I recommend saving your water arrows until you get to ground level as that is where I believe they are scripted to begin patrolling. you still have to go through most of the map to complete the other objectives, but one advantage is you can avoid the mages at the coluseum because you won't need to extend the bridge. Hope this all made sense. Have fun flying over that chasm.

That other chasm where you can get a good look at the area of the tower, how'd you get over that!? I can make it across by only touching that damned river for a second, and sustaining a blow of about half health. Is there some secret!? Becuase I simply CANNOT continue winning the level that way.

No, the view before you even get to the last city. There is a fork almost right after the waterfall. Like I said earlier, it was trick and it did take me 3 tries to get it right.

I know what you're talking about! I want to know if there's another way across that other one!

With a rope arrow and one more speed potion, you can even get back across the lava. It's possible to complete the entire level on Normal difficulty in under three minutes this way.
When you first approach the end of the tunnel where you can see the tower and the fire talisman inside, shoot a rope arrow into the end of one of the beams sticking out near the top of the tower. Do the speed jump to the ledge, go in the tower and collect the talisman, and then go back out onto the ledge. Climb the rope and mantle up onto the roof of the tower, quaff another speed potion, and make the leap back to the tunnel.
