Wicked Magic: A Force for Good or Evil?

By admin

A wicked magic Sometimes, the unknown can be both enticing and terrifying. Few things embody this duality quite like the concept of magic. Throughout history, magic has captivated human imaginations and been both revered and feared. However, not all magic is created equal. There exists a darker side to this mystical world - a wicked magic that manipulates and corrupts. Wicked magic is a form of sorcery that deviates from the conventional practices associated with magic.

Howling Chaney, the first boss in Darkmoor, introduces wizards to this spell, a glorified Forest Lord who pulls pillars from the sand rather than drawing energy from the trees of the forest and proceeds to beat his opponent with them. Every spell in the Core Rulebook is in the deck, with longer spells getting the double-sided treatment and shorter cards having the same graphic on the back.

Wicked magic is a form of sorcery that deviates from the conventional practices associated with magic. While magic is often portrayed as a force for good, wicked magic is the antithesis of this benevolence. It operates on a sinister level, using spells and rituals to achieve one's nefarious aims.

D&D 5E Spell Cards for D&D 5E using Magic Set Editor (MSE)

I've added fourth style called Spellbook Cards Large Image. This set has a large background image option for the users. Add your own background, whether it be a texture or picture, to customize your cards. I've included a scaling feature in the style to change the intensity of the image to lighten the image to the point of being a watermark. There are pre-loaded colors for the borders, but you can select your own colors. You can also tint the background in the same color as your selected border. The spell details are straightforward text and uses the same information used by the other styles. Below are four samples using a variety of backgrounds.

These look great! Here's a related question for you: I have been considering making character cards in this format. Presenting each character in the adventure as a Magic Card or Pokemon card. It would make it easier for my younger kids who are playing. Naturally, you would not be able to put a lot of information on such a card.

Any recommendations for a card maker to do that?

I recommend taking a look at the initiative cards in the download section. I have a set (I think I call them initiative tents) that provides the badic quick reference data for the PCs, NPCs, and monsters. However, the card size and layout might not work for your purpose. I am working on monster/npc/pc cards that are 4x6 or 5x8 reference cards that provide the handy reference for the players/DM, but I haven't finished it yet. Challenge with standard playing card sized restrictions is ensuring the information is readable. I have both seniors and young children in playing groups, and font size is an issue. When I have the reference card format done, I will post the style with the initiative card download. I'll see about posting the draft card on that thread for comment and feedback for the final design.

When starting from scratch, Trying to make a spell card using Draconic style, I was unable to change the spell level. I had to go to a different style set it there and come back. However, I was still unable to change it from the Draconic style.

Thanks for the catch. I'll troubleshoot it now.

o.k. The Spell level DragonScale will change when you change the spell level on the text field. The change in the spell level text field changes both fields. The same is true for the spell school -- the dragon orb will change when you change the spell school text.

Lol, I just figured that out. Thanks.

Attached is a sneak peak of the new style for the Spellcards. This time, in a horizontal/landscape format. Full bleed art option with variable intensity. Optional borders of a selectable magic script style. Several textures to chose from, also with variable intensity. Also, for the first time, an option to build other types of cards other than spellcards -- sort of a blank text format. Below are a few sample from the template.

Hi pdzoch,
These cards look amazing and I'd really like to use these. However, I'm actually new to this program (MSE2) and am trying to upload these and having issues seeing any of these files. I've been trying to find some sort of documentation to help me but I can't. Thus, I was hoping you'd be kind enough to answer a couple of questions. My first question is, do these work with MSE2? Or is it MSE only (I've downloaded MSE2)? If this should be MSE and not MSE2, that could very well be my problem (but if so, a follow on question is does MSE work with Windows 10 do you know) ? Otherwise, I'm downloading your files from EN World and then extracting them to the Data folder in MSE. However, when I do so, and I'm not seeing anything extracted - only what looks to be the base templates for Magic; Vanguard; VS and Yu-Gi-Oh. However, all the folders that were extracted do show up there when I look using File Explorer. I must be doing something wrong somewhere and it's probably something dumb and was hoping you'd have some guidance. If not, no worries but I'd thought I'd ask. The cards look amazing and I'm playing with my nieces and nephews and I think these would be a huge help. Thanks in advance.

These files are written for MSE 2.
Each zip file will need to be extracted separately as its own folder in the data folder of MSE. Ensure that you have also extracted the .game file as well as the symbols/font file. Without the .game file, none of the templates will be visible. I often extract a template file outside of MSE to inspect it to be ensure it is complete, then I will copy the template folder into the MSE/data folder. Hopefully, this will help. If not, shoot me a message and we will work through this together.

The Elephants of Zafaria have their Dark Mojo and the Gorillas have their own - Savage Mojo. Savage Mojo not only follows the same general pattern as its sister spell, but also the damage amount. In fact, the only differences between the two are the name, image, and school. This one does Myth damage rather than Death. The art is still pretty great, though.

Typically, wicked magic involves tapping into malevolent sources of power and harnessing them for personal gain. Unlike traditional magic, which seeks to align with the natural order of the universe, wicked magic seeks to exploit and control it. This misuse of power results in manipulating others, causing harm, or even unleashing chaos and destruction. Most societies and cultures throughout history have recognized the existence of wicked magic, often labeling it as black or dark magic. This distinction emphasizes the nefarious intentions behind these practices. Wicked magic often comes at a great cost, requiring practitioners to sacrifice their morality and embrace darkness. Legends and tales have often depicted wicked magic as a pathway to ultimate power, but one that carries dire consequences. Through these stories, we learn that those who dabble in such dark arts eventually become consumed by the evil they let into their lives. It is important to note that not all magic falls under the realm of wickedness. Many practitioners of magic use their abilities for healing, guidance, and manifestation of positive outcomes. It is the abuse and corruption of magic that leads to wickedness. In modern times, wicked magic continues to fascinate and captivate, albeit in a different form. Books, movies, and video games often depict characters wielding dark magic, showcasing the allure of its power while simultaneously warning against its destructive nature. In these fictional worlds, wicked magic is often a tool used by villains to impose their will upon others. In conclusion, wicked magic exists as a darker facet of the mystical world. It represents a deviation from the benevolent intentions associated with traditional magic. Despite its allure, the use of wicked magic carries grave consequences, eventually leading to corruption and destruction. It serves as a reminder that power, when wielded with malicious intent, can lead one down a dangerous path..

Reviews for "Wicked Magic in Modern Society: Pop Culture and Practices"

1. John - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "A Wicked Magic". The plot felt disjointed and the pacing was all over the place. The characters were underdeveloped and I couldn't connect with any of them. Plus, the magic system was poorly explained and felt inconsistent throughout the book. Overall, it just didn't live up to the hype for me.
2. Sarah - 1/5 stars - I absolutely hated "A Wicked Magic". The writing was mediocre at best and the dialogue felt forced and unnatural. The story was predictable and I was left uninterested in what would happen next. The main characters lacked depth and their actions often didn't make sense. It was a struggle to finish this book and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
3. Michael - 2/5 stars - I had high hopes for "A Wicked Magic" but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The plot seemed promising, but it quickly became convoluted and confusing. The pacing was incredibly slow and I found myself losing interest multiple times throughout the book. The ending was unsatisfying and left too many loose ends. I was really hoping for a gripping and captivating story, but I was left disappointed.
4. Emily - 2/5 stars - "A Wicked Magic" just didn't do it for me. The characters were unlikable and their decisions often didn't make sense. The dialogue was cringeworthy at times and I found myself rolling my eyes more than once. The concept of the book had potential, but it was poorly executed. Overall, I found it to be a forgettable and underwhelming read.
