Fear gripped Lucy's heart, and she scrambled away from the window, retreating to the safety of her bed. She pulled the covers over her head, hoping that the witch would go away. But the tapping continued, growing louder and more insistent. Suddenly, a voice from downstairs called out, "Lucy, is everything alright? I heard a strange noise." It was Lucy's mother, concerned by the commotion. Lucy rushed downstairs, tears streaming down her face, and quickly explained what she had seen and heard. Together, Lucy and her mother went back upstairs to investigate. But when they reached Lucy's room, there was no sign of the witch. The tapping had stopped, and the storm outside had begun to calm down. Lucy's mother assured her that it must have been a figment of her imagination, a result of the storm playing tricks on her mind. Relieved but still unsettled, Lucy climbed back into bed. As she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't shake the memory of the witch tapping on her window.
