At first, it appeared to be a trick of the setting sun. Where once it had been colored by the crimson and gold of the flames, Rosalind's body began to glow with a silvery light. As the fire caught the thin fabric of her skirts and climbed towards her waist, she did not scream, nor even whimper, but instead remained stoic while the cloth turned to ash and the flames pressed against her naked skin. The mill cast its tall shadow over the marketplace and, in the greying light, pink flesh took on gleaming silver lines.
Set in both present-day Wales and in the 10th century, The Silver Witch tells the stories of Tilda Fordwells and Seren Arianaidd, two women linked by place, powers, and possibly bloodline. Even though I found the author s use of the present tense with the past tense to deliver Tilda s narrative jarring, the novel pulled me in and made for an entertaining read.
Throughout the story, Crystal encounters a diverse cast of characters, including her best friend Amelia and her potential love interest, Peter. Each character brings their own unique personality and contributes to the overall development of the plot. One of the notable aspects of The Silver Wotch is its art style.

When she explores the lake’s ancient magic and her own she discovers Seren, the woman in her vision of the boat. Their two lives strangely mirror each others, suggesting a strong connection between the women. As Tilda comes under threat from a dark power, one reminiscent of Seren’s prophecy, she must rely on Seren and ancient magic if death and disaster are not to shatter her life once more.
