Markers of a Curse A curse is often associated with a string of misfortunes that seem to haunt a person or a family. Throughout history and across different cultures, curses have been believed to have real and lasting effects on individuals and their descendants. While curses may not be universally recognized, there are certain markers that often indicate the presence of a curse. Firstly, a recurring pattern of negative events is often a clear marker of a curse. These events may include illnesses, accidents, financial losses, or other misfortunes that continuously affect the cursed individual or their loved ones. The repetition and severity of these events can be seen as indications that a curse is at play.

Boyyyys, and I’m supposed to do this for other series? Gosh. My respect to all bloggers there. You’re doing some great job. I, scum-zanagi, shall probably remain random. I need to find a more systematic way to do this.

The lead male characters harbor secrets Eru that he is from another world and has his memories of them, and Tatsuya from his work and alt identities and actual powers. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city s walls, but when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever.

The repetition and severity of these events can be seen as indications that a curse is at play. Secondly, curses are often accompanied by a sense of inexplicable bad luck. Cursed individuals may find themselves encountering misfortunes that are seemingly unrelated or unexplainable by ordinary circumstances.

Re. Anime: Knight’s & Magic Episode 1 (Comparison with Light Novel and Manga)

Attempting to get out of my depravity… without much success.

Haro~ Yes, I failed you. I haven’t started Little Busters! today too…

Ok, firstly let me say that I have no idea whether I’ll continue doing this, but random-ness and inconsistency is pretty much this blog trademark. Chaos. Chaotic alignment… just wanted to say those words, blame my chuunibyou. In the best case, I’ll pick some series I’ll regularl- pffff, okay nah. Regularly is too much of a big word, let’s say I’ll probably make posts for few shows per season, that’s the plan. I’m sure it won’t go well and I’ll simply write whenever Steins;Gate choose so.

That being said, susume (I’m particularly weaboo today)! Let’s begin.

Knight’s & Magic Original Source: Studio: Opening Theme:

“Hello! My World!!” by fhána

Ending Theme:

“You & I” performed by Ayaka Ohashi

Available on: Synopsis:

A mecha otaku is reincarnated into another world as Ernesti Echevalier, also known as Eru. In this world exists huge humanoid weapons known as Silhouette Knights. Dreaming of piloting those robots, Eru, with childhood friends, Archid Walter and Adeltrud Walter, aim to become Knight Runners, pilots of these Silhouette Knights. (Source: MyAnimeList)

Now, it’s naturally first episode, so this is merely a first impression. I’ll be blunt: I enjoyed it, but I can’t help but be a little critic towards it, as I read the LN and thus see this more as an adaptation than a stand alone Anime. For some reasons, I feel like apologizing to the studio… well, it was just to say that in case I sound harsh, it’s just me being a original source supremacist.

Our Otaku MC. The Cinematic effect was nice.

The setting is the already quite known “Isekai”, term which refers to those tales that have the main character(s) summoned, transported or reborn in another world. If you’re starting to see many of these ones in Anime, just know that in the LN world the market is so over saturated of this that contests have banned “Isekai” stories.

Well, Isekai have usually worlds with “Swords and Magic”, so this is a little less generic, since there are Mecha, swords and magic… I suppose the title of the show was chosen like this?

Normal Isekai = “Swords and Magic” -> we want a particular one, so “Mecha and Magic” -> mecha is ugly, let’s go with Knights -> “Knights and Magic” -> not cool enough -> “Knight’s & Magic”.

Haro, I see you accepted his application to another world, Truck-sama.

Ok, let’s proceed. As expected, MC is sent to another world thanks to the gracious act of Truck-sam- !? It’s not a truck, is it? It’s a normal car? I’m no expert, but isn’t it going a little slow to be deadly? Well, that aside,

It’s a trap. This cute little silver thing is our Otaku MC.

Isn’t it lovely how little Eru just ignore his father awaiting for a hug after just having saved the day from a giga-insect-monster, and straightly goes to hug the foot of the Mecha instead. Oh, wait. It’s called Silhouette knight, is it? This explain the choice of Knights and Magic I suppose.

Whelp, I would be in awe too seeing that.

By the way, I’m pleasantly impressed by the art and the animation. Mecha is usually ugly CG animated, but I quite liked here. To be honest, I was expecting some… worse things, as the studio animated the summoned monsters/beasts of Rewrite in a… disappointing way. See? You can do it if you try! Now, why couldn’t you do the same for it…

Obviously, our MC must have some kind of cheat or broken skill, and in our case it’s, not only the knowledge from our world, but also the programming. This may be me, but the fact that MC is a genius programmer and he coincidentally finds himself in a world where magic is pretty much like programming is a little too convenient. But I still enjoy these kind of stories, so screw it.

Weee. Narrator-san, aren’t you spoiling us a little there?

Now, here’s the first difference I can find: I remember that the first time Chid and Ady weren’t able to talk to him, and only during the second time they decided to become his students. That’s not really important story-wise, but I can feel the fast pace here.

Ok. Darn it if it was fast. I might remember wrongly here, but I believe Eru didn’t think of making his own Knight until later on? Well, not really important either. it’s not really important the fact that the meeting with the dwarf was in the middle of a training day and not during school.

Just me finding the pace surprisingly fast. It may be because I found the LN quite slow, boring almost, but this is quite the fast paced rythm. And… that’s not really a bad thing in my opinion, as the original pace might have been boring to some (like last season’ Grimoire of Zero?), or at least, I think it would have been for me.

Well, either way, it’s golden how Eru imposes himself over the teachers to avoid the fundamental classes so to attend the middle school ones. By the way, to tell the truth, the shape of Eru’s weapon bothered me not little.

From the illustrations of the Light Novel and the Manga, I was expecting something more… blade-y? Not sure if you get what I mean, but it should have been a rod with a blade attached to it. I think that’s a too modern design. In comparison, here’s the Light Novel version:

I like his hair there. Being too fluffly make him even younger and childish in my humble opinion.

Hm… perhaps it’s not visible enough. The Manga showed it better:

See? Not enough blade there. Though, this is merely a personal stylish taste, so let’s ignore this. While I’m at it, here’s the Manga version of the test too:

The Anime is going to focus more on action it seems… as it breezed through the first half of the LN already. No, it’s already on the latter half and even skipped a some parts, Here three years passed and we’re on a field trip in a dangerous forest. There we meet the half-sister of Eru’s best friend and get to know the backstory…

…but we skipped an important part in my opinion: the duel between the half brother (while we saw only the half-sister), an obnoxious jealous brat who resort to kidnapping and other lowly things to win, and Kid.

Hmm, wait. Perhaps they will adapt this part later on? That would be chronologically wrong though, and it wouldn’t have any sense. So they are most likely going to skip that part. Thus, we’re directly going to see the confrontation with that huge… monster we saw at the end.

I expect a great fight. Ok, that’s all from me. This was supposed to be a simple comment or reaction post, yet it become a way for me to advertise the Manga and the Light Novel? Screw it, I’ll add that to the title then. Now you understand why I’m chaotic neutral.

Oh, well. While I’m at it: the Anime is available on Crunchyroll (… and thus also on a certain horrible site). The original source, the Light Novel which has been fan-translated until Volume 4 by Skythewood.

This constant stream of bad luck can create a feeling of being cursed or targeted by unseen forces. Thirdly, curses can often be traced back to a specific event or action. Many curses are said to be the result of angered spirits, vengeful witchcraft, or breaking a sacred oath. Uncovering the root cause of a curse is important in understanding its markers and potentially finding ways to break it. Fourthly, a curse may also manifest itself through supernatural occurrences or paranormal activity. These can include ghostly apparitions, strange sounds, or inexplicable happenings that defy natural explanations. Such paranormal phenomena are often seen as evidence of a curse's existence. Lastly, a curse may have a generational impact, affecting not only the individual who is believed to be cursed but also their descendants. This intergenerational transmission of misfortune further reinforces the belief in the curse and its markers. In conclusion, the markers of a curse can include a recurring pattern of negative events, a sense of inexplicable bad luck, a specific event or action as the root cause, supernatural occurrences, and a generational impact. While curses may be dismissed by skeptics, those who believe in their power often look for these markers as evidence of their presence. Breaking a curse requires understanding its markers and taking appropriate measures to counteract its effects..
