The Healing Power of Occultism: Alternative Therapies and Spiritual Practices

Occultism throughout history in 2020 Throughout history, occultism has been a prominent aspect of various cultures and societies. In 2020, this ancient practice continues to intrigue individuals around the world. Occultism involves the study and exploration of hidden knowledge, supernatural forces, and mystical practices. It encompasses diverse belief systems, rituals, and traditions that have persisted over centuries. While occultism has often been associated with secrecy and the pursuit of forbidden knowledge, it has also influenced various aspects of art, literature, and popular culture. In recent years, occultism has experienced a resurgence, fueled by technological advancements and a growing interest in spirituality.

Another classic study of the subject, this one concentrating on the 16 th and 17 th centuries in England, is Keith Thomas’ Religion and the Decline of Magic, now also available as an eBook through SOLO. Thomas analyses the connections between magic and popular religion at a time the Protestant Reformation worked to take the magic out of religion, and science and rationalism also began to challenge the older systems of beliefs held by people on every level of English society. Staying with the topic of religion, but moving a bit further into the realm of science as well as into the 18 th century is Rob Iliffe’s Priest of Nature, which focuses on an often-neglected side of Isaac Newton, his private religious convictions that set him at odds with established law and Anglican doctrine. Iliffe’s discussion of Newton’s long-suppressed writings on his theological positions sheds light on the relationship between faith and science at a formative moment in history and thought, and the theological discussions that dominated Newton’s age, giving an insightful picture of the spiritual views of a man who fundamentally changed how we look at the universe.

Moran s 2005 Distilling Knowledge looks past contemporary assumptions and prejudices to determine what alchemists were actually doing in the context of early modern science between 1400 and 1700. For one, esotericism, occultism and mysticism are very much alive and flourishing, and making headlines even in the 21 st century last year US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez birth horoscope, drawn up by self-described psychic and astrologer Arthur Lipp-Bonewits, made Astrology Twitter go wild, while a coven of Brooklyn witches publicly hexed then-Supreme Court candidate Brett Kavanaugh.

History of the Occult (2020) - I need to talk

Just watched History of the Occult and sadly there is almost no discussion around the movie - I guess it will take some time before it makes the international circuit so a wider audiences experiences it.

The story revolves around a political show that tried to reveal the truth behind a mysterious murder. After one year facing threats, character assassination and stonewalling by the government, the show was finally cancelled and the crew only has one last live broadcast to try to uncover the connections between the government and the murder in what seems to be a vast, shady conspiracy. And yes, don't worry, things will get spooky soon.

The reason why I really want to discuss the movie is because the movie leans heavily into the conspiracy stuff. As a viewer you join the plot basically at its end (i.e. the broadcast of the show "60 Minutes to Midnight") and the movie does not care to give you any context at all. You see people running around at night through shady streets with unknown purpose, you notice throwaway comments about things that happened before. There are some dirty deals done under the table and you as a viewer only get a glimpse. It's very atmospheric and very gripping but you better be prepared to go with the flow and not to expect clear answers.

Now, the movie is not completely indecipherable. At the end you will have a general idea about what has happened up to the start of the movie but a ton of things are left unexplained. As for the ending (no spoilers): I am not sure if I am getting blueballed or if its quite logical what has happened . I tend to go for the latter.

Feel free to necro this thread if you feel like to, I don't mind if the admins don't mind, this movie definitely is food for thought and I'd love to discuss it.

Occultism throughout history in 2020

In pop culture, occult themes and imagery have become increasingly prevalent. Books, films, and television shows often incorporate occult symbols, practices, and themes to captivate audiences. This includes the rise of supernatural-themed series such as "American Horror Story" and the popularity of novels like "The Da Vinci Code" that explore the mystical and esoteric. However, occultism also faces criticism and skepticism. Skeptics argue that occult beliefs and practices lack scientific evidence and rely on subjective interpretations. Some also view occultism as a form of escapism or manipulation, warning individuals against blind adherence to mystical ideologies. Nonetheless, occultism continues to be a significant and influential aspect of society in 2020. It continues to attract individuals seeking answers, empowerment, and a deeper connection to the universe. As long as human curiosity and spirituality persist, the allure of occultism is likely to endure, evolving and adapting to the changing times while preserving its ancient traditions and mysticism..

I was really disappointed with "Occultism throughout history in 2020." The book lacked any substantial research or analysis, and instead, it felt like a collection of random and poorly-written stories. The author didn't provide any credible sources or references to support their claims, which made it difficult to take the book seriously. I was hoping for a comprehensive and informative look into occultism, but this book just fell short in every aspect. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a scholarly exploration of the topic.

It seemed like the author was simply compiling random information without any clear purpose or structure. The writing style was choppy and awkward, making it difficult to stay engaged. Additionally, the book contained numerous factual errors, which further diminished its credibility. Overall, I found it to be a disappointing and unimpressive read.
