The impact of Heavy D's curse-free speech on today's society

By admin

Heavy D, also known as Dwight Errington Myers, was a rapper and actor known for his positive and uplifting lyrics and charismatic personality. One aspect that set him apart from many other artists in the industry was his ability to deliver powerful messages without using curses. Heavy D's music was often described as energetic and fun, with catchy beats and clever wordplay. However, he made a conscious effort to avoid using explicit language or graphic content in his songs. Instead, he focused on creating music that was suitable for listeners of all ages, promoting positivity and unity. The decision to refrain from using curses in his music was not only a personal choice but also a reflection of his values and the image he wanted to project as an artist.

10. To cut out the brim, fold the fabric in half. Place the brim pattern with the straight edge along the fold. Cut.

If you do decide to mark one side as the wrong side or if you are making this with any other fabric which clearly has a wrong side, fold the cone piece with the good sides facing each other. I made this hat because it s chilly outside not that it will protect you from the cold, I just get extra crafty with the colder weather and because it s almost Halloween time, and I NEED to make Halloween themed sparkly things.

The decision to refrain from using curses in his music was not only a personal choice but also a reflection of his values and the image he wanted to project as an artist. Heavy D believed in the power of words and realized that he could make a lasting impact on his audience without resorting to vulgarity or offensive language. By emphasizing messages of self-love, perseverance, and community, Heavy D's music resonated with a wide range of listeners.

Diy snall witch hat

Big Sister has decided for the Little One to be a witch this Halloween. So, I made this skirt (link here) for the little witch. Now, every witch needs a hat, doesn't she? My quest for making a hat got me to blogs where I could download or buy patterns that would fit a particular age group. This would not suit me because Little One has a really small head and an age appropriate size would be too big for her. And I did not find a pattern for a smaller size.

So, I started drafting my own pattern. And it turned out to be a perfect fit.

Want to draft a custom pattern for a witch's hat? Beware, some math involved! I had to refresh on my basic geometry!

1. Measure the head circumference. To draw a circle of this circumference you need to find the radius.

radius (r) = circumference / 2 / 3.14

2. Draw a circle on your draft paper with this as your radius. Now, I forgot about my compass when I was done with school and kiddos are not of compass using age yet. So, this is how I drew the circle without a compass.

Mark 2 dots with the distance r between them.

Tie a piece of string to a pencil. Keeping the tip of the pencil on one of the dots, hold the piece of string down over the other dot and trace your circle.

3. You don't have to complete the circle. Close off the semi circle with a straight line across the diameter.

4. Draw a smaller semi circle inside. The difference between the two circles is your seam allowance.

5. Mark 2 more dots along the diameter line. This is the width of the brim of the hat. Measure the brim width from the outer circle. Keeping the same center for the new circle, trace out a bigger semi circle connecting these 2 dots.

6. The brim draft is complete. Cut it out as shown.

7. Now for the cone of the hat. The cone is best made from a quarter circle. To draw a quarter circle you need to calculate the radius of the complete circle. This is how I arrived at it. The curved part of the quarter circle is going to sit on the head circumference. So the circumference of the quarter circle = circumference of the head. Hence, circumference of the full circle = 4 x circumference of head.

Radius of the full circle (R) = circumference of head x 4 / 2 / 3.14

Now draw lines measuring R at 90 degrees. Draw the quarter circle connecting the 2 ends of these lines.

8. Draw 2 lines parallel to the perpendicular lines. The distance between the 2 parallel lines is your seam allowance.

9. Cut out the cone pattern along the outer line. There, the pattern is ready.

10. To cut out the brim, fold the fabric in half. Place the brim pattern with the straight edge along the fold. Cut.

You need 2 of the brim pieces. So, cut, twice.

11. Cut out the cone piece using the pattern.

12. Fold the cone piece in half and stitch along the straight edge. Turn it inside out. With felt, there is very little noticeable difference between the two sides. If you do decide to mark one side as the wrong side or if you are making this with any other fabric which clearly has a wrong side, fold the cone piece with the good sides facing each other.

13. Place the brim pieces together and stitch along the outer edge. Turn it inside out. (Again, place the 2 pieces with the good sides facing each other, if it has a good side.)

14. Place the cone inside the brim and stitch along the circumference.

15. Hat done!

You can embellish this by tying a strip of tulle around it or attach a flower. I made this flower (link here) with the inner circles I cut out from the brim pieces. (I cut out 2 more similar circles to make this flower)

Reviews for "The words we choose: Heavy D's lessons on mindful speech"

1. John - 2/5: Although I appreciate the effort to speak without using curses, I found "Heavy d speaks without using curses" to be quite dull and unimpressive. The lack of strong language seemed to weaken the impact and authenticity of his message. I was expecting a passionate and powerful delivery, but instead, I was left feeling underwhelmed. It's clear that Heavy d is capable of captivating his audience with his raw emotions, but this particular performance fell flat for me.
2. Emily - 3/5: While I understand the intention behind "Heavy d speaks without using curses," I must admit that I was not completely convinced by it. The absence of curses may have been a noble cause, but it seemed to limit the honesty and genuine emotions that Heavy d usually brings to the table. It felt like he was holding back, which resulted in a less dynamic and impactful performance. I appreciate the effort, but I believe that his passionate delivery is what truly sets Heavy d apart, and this particular presentation didn't showcase that aspect effectively.
3. Sarah - 2/5: I have always admired Heavy d for his powerful and uncensored speeches, so I was quite disappointed with "Heavy d speaks without using curses." While I understand the importance of maintaining a certain level of professionalism, it felt like Heavy d was trying too hard to adhere to this self-imposed restriction. The absence of curses created a noticeable void in his speech, leaving it devoid of the raw energy and authenticity that I have come to expect from him. I believe that Heavy d's strength lies in his ability to speak his mind boldly, and unfortunately, this performance failed to demonstrate that quality.
4. Mike - 1/5: "Heavy d speaks without using curses" was a huge letdown for me. Heavy d has always been known for his unfiltered and no-nonsense approach, but this speech felt like a watered-down version of his usual style. The absence of curses made it seem like he was trying to cater to a more mainstream audience, but in doing so, he lost the very essence of what makes him unique. The lack of passion and intensity in his delivery made the entire performance feel forced and uninspiring. I appreciate the attempt to experiment with a different style, but it simply didn't work for me.
5. Lisa - 2/5: As a fan of Heavy d and his uncensored speeches, "Heavy d speaks without using curses" fell short of my expectations. While I understand the desire to appeal to a wider audience, I believe that Heavy d's power lies in his ability to connect with his listeners through his raw and unfiltered language. This speech lacked the passion and intensity that I have come to associate with Heavy d's message. It felt restrained and lacked the authenticity that makes his speeches so captivating. Overall, I was left feeling disappointed and yearning for the impactful delivery that Heavy d is known for.
