The power of transformation: Exquisite voodoo doll makeup ideas

By admin

If you're looking to create an eye-catching and unique Halloween makeup look, why not consider an exquisite voodoo doll? This intricate and detailed makeup style is sure to turn heads at any Halloween party or event. To achieve the perfect voodoo doll makeup, you'll need a few key elements. First, start with a flawless base by applying a high-coverage foundation and concealer to create a porcelain doll-like complexion. Use a matte finish to give your skin an extra touch of doll-like texture. Next, focus on the eyes. Opt for warm neutral eyeshadows to create a soft and natural look, then add a touch of depth by defining the crease with a deep brown shade.

Finally, the lips. For the lips, black seemed mandatory. Still in my gloss craze (see my last blogpost on the Halloween Beauty Makeup) I decided to go with a glossy black lip that would be dripping down onto her chin, like dark blood. The blood feel to the look comes from the fact that my black pencil is a very smudgy one and that it hase quite a warm, purply undertone (some black have a lot of blue inside them). If your pencil isn’t as warm, you can first line the lips with a red or a plum shade and then go in with the black.

To achieve very sharp cheekbones, without giving a skull-like look to my model, I started with a very, very warm contour that I then deepened with a darker black shade.

Opt for warm neutral eyeshadows to create a soft and natural look, then add a touch of depth by defining the crease with a deep brown shade. To add a hint of mystique, draw a thin black line along the upper lash line and extend it outward to create a winged effect. When it comes to the eyebrows, aim for an exaggerated shape for a whimsical touch.

Sorceress Makeup Look

I can now say I painted trees on someone’s forehead and made it look good ^^.

I have actually wanted to do this look for quite a long time. I truly love makeup where there are delicate designs with eyeliner. And from this I imagined my Sorceress. She would be regal, dark, stunning, and slightly psycho.

The first element in this look is the cheekbones. I imagined my sorceress as a person living off nothing much except her herbs and potions, so she would be quite a thin person. Also, I wanted her cheekbones to be very sharp so that she has an other world feel to her. To achieve very sharp cheekbones, without giving a skull-like look to my model, I started with a very, very warm contour that I then deepened with a darker black shade. This helped create an off gray shadow that counteracts any ashy feel that can come from contouring with black.

Then, the star of the show is the brows and the forehead design. First off, the brows themselves had to be very dark and very full. I exaggerated the arch, filled in the inner corner a bit more than usual as well as drag the tail out further than the natural brows. For this look to tie in well and remain elegant, do not overdraw (like boxy Instagram brows) the brows. If you have thin brows, fill them in with a slightly darker shadow staying inside the line of the brows as much as possible. There is nothing wrong with very filled in brows, it’s just that seing that the design on top is drawn on, if the brown appear too drawn on, it will make the design appear heavy and thick. Which is the opposite of what we want.

As for the design itself, keep in mind that for trees to look realistic, there can be no straight lines. Also, the trunk has to be much ticker than the small twigs at the tips. The silver fruit rhinestones really give that wonderful complexity to the look. It recalls slightly the forbidden fruit in many different legends; Persephone’s pomegranate, or even just Eve’s apple. The design has to remain airy to also recall a tiara that the sorceress could have etched into her skin.

Then, when it comes to the Voodoo doll, I followed a tutorial on youtube and used strips of fabric instead of thread, and for the skull I repainted and re-sculpted a very ugly cheep store bought one.

Fill them in with a dark brown or black shade and use a gel or wax to keep them in place. One of the key aspects of the voodoo doll makeup is the stitching detail. To achieve this, use a black eyeliner or face paint to create small stitches around your face and neck. Be creative with the placement, adding extra stitches in areas like the lips or forehead to add depth and interest to the overall look. To enhance the voodoo doll appearance, consider adding some blush to the cheeks. Opt for a rosy shade and apply it in a circular motion, similar to how blush might appear on a doll's face. Lastly, finish off the look with a deep red or blood-red lipstick. This will add the final touch of drama and create a cohesive and striking voodoo doll effect. With a steady hand and attention to detail, you can create an exquisite voodoo doll makeup look that is sure to leave a lasting impression. Whether you're attending a Halloween party or simply want to immerse yourself in the spirit of the holiday, this unique makeup look is the perfect way to stand out from the crowd..

Reviews for "Creating a masterpiece: Tips for perfecting voodoo doll makeup"

1. Sarah - 2/5 - I was really excited to try out the Exquisite voodoo doll makeup after seeing all the positive reviews, but I have to say I was quite disappointed. The colors were not as vibrant as shown in the pictures, and the application was not smooth at all. The brushes that came with the set were flimsy, and it was hard to get a precise look. Overall, I found the quality of the product to be quite poor and not worth the price.
2. Mark - 1/5 - I absolutely hated the Exquisite voodoo doll makeup. The colors were extremely patchy and didn't blend well at all. It was so difficult to create any kind of clean, crisp lines with this product. Additionally, the pigmentation was very weak, and I had to keep layering on the product to achieve the desired intensity. The overall result was very unflattering and not what I was expecting. I would not recommend this makeup to anyone.
3. Emily - 2/5 - I was really excited to try out the Exquisite voodoo doll makeup, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The colors appeared much darker on my skin than in the palette, and they did not blend well together. I also found that the makeup started smudging and fading within a few hours of wear, which was quite disappointing. The packaging was also not very durable, and one of the eyeshadows broke during shipping. Overall, I was not impressed with the quality and performance of this product.
4. Tyler - 3/5 - While the Exquisite voodoo doll makeup had a unique and interesting concept, I found the execution to be lacking. The colors were decently pigmented, but they were quite powdery and had a lot of fallout. The application was also a bit difficult as the product did not adhere well to my skin. I was able to achieve a decent look with some effort, but the lasting power of the makeup was not great. Overall, I was expecting better performance and quality from this product.
