October Horror Challenge 2018 Movie #36 Cribs from several pretty obvious sources, but as a whole, it's still pretty entertaining. The characters are fun and it has a sense of humor, which makes the whole thing pretty palatable. It definitely doesn't need to be found footage, but that's probably their whole unique gimmick to sell it on, and if it wasn't there the similarities to The Craft would probably bring on a lawsuit. I'm pretty sure somewhere, a group of 3 sheets to the wind men of a certain age, stumbled across a pile of their wives' dvds. They watched HEATHERS, THE CRAFT & CARRIE, & decided to mesh the 3 together creating one of the most lacklustre films l've seen in a long time.
If you're young & have nevetmr seen any of the afore mentioned films you may enjoy this more than l did.
The characters held my interest despite my general wariness of found footage films, so I liked this. Sure, it wears its influences on its sleeve. But we live in a world that is about to see its 9th Fast and Furious film; there's room to revisit the idea of a teenage coven that takes things too far. I might feel differently if this was more of a flat-out copy. It sidesteps one of The Craft's biggest weaknesses though, deemphasizing the love interest in favor of a tighter focus on its female friendships. That's enough to earn it an extra star in my book.
This movie was kind of a servewait, don't do something crazy just for the camera. because.. nobody watches our show the wholesome girlpower witch version of Chronicle meets 90's/00's highschool witch flicks i haven't seen meets The Bling Ring 😁 more the latter two than the first, as it's predictably not as big in scale, tho it does outmatch it in its sheer excitement for filmmaking! the kind of excitement that you see from the occasional director working within a restrictive medium/genre, who is passionate enough to try to rise above the limitations set for them. in this case channeling the built-in youth appeal of a tv-movie-y production to look inwards, instead of lazily following the norm. yes we do still get the occasional dips into…

If you mix up Heathers, Chronicle, and The Craft, but made it far worse than you can think of complete with horrendous acting, subpar story, low-budget effects, and unnecessary use of crappy found footage. The Witch Files follows a group of high school girls as they decide to create a coven of their own. Of course, adhering to the usual standards of B-movie you can't always expect Oscar worthy performances, yet some of these female actors are surely stinky, especially the main girl's acting towards the end. Although cliché ridden and keeping up with the stereotypes of each girl in the group (nerdy, gothy, sporty, bitchy, fatty), I do admit that it's really fun to see their interactions…
