Earwig and the Witch is a computer-animated fantasy film that was directed by Goro Miyazaki. The film, released in 2020, is based on the novel of the same name written by Diana Wynne Jones. The story revolves around a young girl named Earwig who is adopted by a mysterious couple who turn out to be a witch and a wizard. In the U.K., Elysian — the new banner set up by former StudioCanal U.K. boss Danny Perkins — is making Earwig and the Witch its first theatrical release, the film due out in Spring 2021.
Grant's deep, captivating voice adds a touch of villainy and intrigue to the film. In addition, Kacey Musgraves provides her vocal talents to the character of Bella Yaga, the witch who adopts Earwig. Musgraves brings a unique charm and whimsy to the character, making Bella Yaga memorable. Other notable actors who appear in the film include Dan Stevens as Thomas Harris, the wizard who becomes Earwig's adoptive father, and Vanessa Marshall as Matron, the strict head of the orphanage where Earwig lives at the beginning of the story. - Jessica - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the performances in "Earwig and the Witch". The voice acting felt incredibly stiff and lacked emotion, which made it hard for me to connect with the characters. Additionally, the animation style was not to my taste, and I found it distracting throughout the film. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and wished I had spent my time and money on something else.
