Exploring the magical traditions of Litha in Wiccan paganism

Wiccan pagan holidays, also known as Sabbats, are an important part of Wiccan belief and practice. These holidays follow the cycles of the seasons and the movements of the sun and moon. There are eight Sabbats in total, which are divided into two categories: the Greater Sabbats and the Lesser Sabbats. The Greater Sabbats are known as the cross-quarter days and mark the midpoint between the solstices and equinoxes. They are Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, and Lughnasadh. Samhain, celebrated on October 31st, is often considered the Wiccan New Year and is a time for honoring ancestors and remembering the dead.

There are also 2 special unaired OVA episodes that got exclusively shown on Hikari TV too which are officially numbered as 14 and 15, oddly skipping the number 13. Being a fan of the class Gegege no Kitaro and Natsume Book of Friends , I just had to give this show a go when I read the Youkai, supernatural beings from Japanese folklore were involved.

Being a fan of the class Gegege no Kitaro and Natsume Book of Friends, I just had to give this show a go when I read the Youkai, supernatural beings from Japanese folklore were involved. The Manga it's based on by Yoko Tomotsu is serialised in the Anime NewType magazine and you'll immediately see it's aimed at the ladies with its full cast of bishounen, "pretty boy" cast and hints of gay men relationships. So, the Youkai themselves aren't scary looking either (with the odd creepy moments. It's mostly cute, comedy and love. A bit cliche really until mid way when stories spread multiple episodes then it really picks up with its scenarios.

Lughnasadh, celebrated on August 1st, is a harvest festival that honors the god Lugh. The Lesser Sabbats, also known as the Quarter Days, mark the solstices and equinoxes: Yule, Ostara, Midsummer, and Mabon. Yule, celebrated on the winter solstice, is a celebration of the rebirth of the sun and the lengthening of days. Ostara, celebrated on the spring equinox, is a time of balance and fertility. Midsummer, celebrated on the summer solstice, is a time for celebrating the power of the sun and the abundance of nature. Mabon, celebrated on the fall equinox, is a festival of thanksgiving for the harvest. During these Sabbats, Wiccans gather to celebrate and honor the changing seasons and the elements of nature. Rituals and ceremonies are performed to invoke the energy of the Sabbats and to connect with the divine. These celebrations often involve feasting, dancing, and making offerings to the gods and goddesses. Overall, Wiccan pagan holidays are an integral part of Wiccan spirituality and provide an opportunity for Wiccans to connect with the cycles of nature and the divine. They provide a time of reflection, celebration, and gratitude for the blessings of the Earth and the turning of the wheel of the year..
