Practical Magic is a novel written by Alice Hoffman. The book was first published in 1995 and gained popularity due to its unique blend of magic, romance, and family drama. The story follows the lives of the Owens sisters, Sally and Gillian, who come from a long line of powerful witches. These women are haunted by a family curse that causes any man who falls in love with them to meet an untimely death. Despite this curse, the sisters must navigate love, loss, and the complexities of their magical abilities. Hoffman's writing style is captivating and lyrical, immersing readers into the world of the Owens family and their struggles.

This book, as well as the others, is so well-detailed and believable. I felt the suspense and enjoyed the story so much.

Susanna Owens has three children, Franny, the oldest and most obstinate, Jet, beautiful and shy, and Vincent, as handsome as the devil and full of charm. I thought Practical Magic was quite a bit darker than the movie, it also included many more details about the Owens family, that were not included in the movie.
