The Jets took care of a tidy piece of business on Monday night, allowing a goal just 20 seconds into the game to be but a blip on the radar screen as they cruised to a 6-2 win over the visiting San Jose Sharks at Canada Life Centre. “It was not an ideal start,” Mason Appleton said. “But the way that we answered was unbelievable. We were relentless all night. For the first time of the year, we beat (James) Reimer. He’s had our number both games. Finally, it fell tonight and it feels good.” Reimer had stolen the show in the first two meetings, saving a combined 77 of 79 shots before allowing six through the wickets on 33 on Monday. Winnipeg’s offensive resurgence, which produced 21 goals during their five-game homestand, prevented the season sweep by the Sharks. More importantly, it vaulted the Jets to the precipice of a mid-April whiteout in downtown Winnipeg.
