Breaking Boundaries: Gender Representation in 'The Witch Collector Book Number Two

By admin

The Witch Collector is a popular book series that follows the adventures of a young girl named Kiera as she discovers her own magical abilities and joins a secret society of witches. In The Witch Collector Book Number Two, the story picks up where the first book left off, with Kiera continuing her training and facing new challenges. In this second installment, Kiera finds herself caught up in a dangerous plot that threatens the very existence of the witching world. She must use her newfound powers and skills to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves. Along the way, Kiera encounters a host of fascinating characters, both friends and foes, who help shape her destiny. Just like the first book, The Witch Collector Book Number Two is full of action, suspense, and a touch of romance.

Collecting day is upon Silver Hollow. The hours tick by, and the knowledge that the Witch Collector is coming for another witch to claim is weighing on everyone. But when he’s late, they all think it’s time to celebrate – maybe no witch will be claimed this year.

I also don t like in books where the main heroines get to say and do mean things to other characters but it gets looked over because that s just her personality or just because she is the main character or a woman. The other girl is supposedly talented, but she also has no experience or true soldier training, so idk how that would be enough to take on war-hardened soldiers.

The author skillfully weaves together elements of fantasy and adventure to create a rich and engaging story. Readers will be captivated by Kiera's journey as she navigates the complex world of witchcraft and faces both internal and external challenges.

Review: The Witch Collector by Charissa Weaks

I was so excited to read an ARC of The Witch Collector from new to me author, Charissa Weeks!! The cover is beautiful, the fantasy theme is right up my alley and the story did not disappoint! This is book one in trilogy. And I am now anxiously awaiting books two and three!

The book follows Raina Bloodgood, a witch who can’t speak and uses her own sign language to communicate. Every year, a man called The Witch Collector (his real name is Alexus) rides into Raina’s village to take a witch and bring her back to their ruler, The Frost King. Every year, Raina isn’t chosen. Her sister was chosen several years ago and Raina hasn’t seen her since.

Raina has built up considerable anger for the Frost King, and misses her sister dearly. She thinks the Frost King is an evil selfish person, and concocts a plan to kill Alexus on Collection day and get the King next. The day arrives and things go horribly wrong. She and Alexus find themselves battling together against a truly sinister dark army that is destroying villages across the countryside. Raina has to pull from her strongest magic to save Alexus, a man she considers to be her enemy. She doesn’t trust him. She’s not sure about his truth or if what he says about The Frost King and her own sister can possibly be correct. It takes a long time to believe him. No insta love or immediate respect.

This was a thoroughly original story. The marketing is spot on- if you like Jennifer L. Armentrout and Sarah J. Maas- this is for you. Both MCs were terrific unique characters. Alexus has a complicated past. The romance is so real, it’s also a very slow, delicious and sexy burn. I enjoyed Raina so much! Without a voice, she was so expressive, and the concept of her having a special sign language that the people most important to her understood, was one of my favorite things. It’s written with dual POV, there is a cliffhanger, next book isn’t out until May. The side characters were also intriguing and I can see a spin-off series in my dreams. I’d love a peek into the Frost King and Raina’s sister’s story. If the author reads this, please make it so. :)

She also bests trained experienced warriors in combat twice her size multiple times, which I found unrealistic. Her training and experience is she sometimes trains with another village girl who is a bit younger than her in their spare time. The other girl is supposedly talented, but she also has no experience or true soldier training, so idk how that would be enough to take on war-hardened soldiers.
The witch collector book number two

One of the main themes in this book is the power of friendship and loyalty. Kiera must rely on her friends, old and new, to help her overcome obstacles and confront her fears. Through their support and encouragement, she learns the importance of trust and unity in the face of adversity. The Witch Collector Book Number Two also explores the concept of self-discovery and personal growth. As Kiera learns more about her magical abilities, she also discovers more about herself. She must confront her own fears, doubts, and insecurities in order to fully embrace her destiny as a witch. Overall, The Witch Collector Book Number Two is an exciting and engaging read for fans of the fantasy genre. The well-developed characters, intricate plot, and thought-provoking themes make it a book that will captivate readers of all ages. Whether you are a longtime fan of the series or a new reader, this second installment is sure to leave you eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Kiera's magical journey..

Reviews for "From Page to Screen: Adapting 'The Witch Collector Book Number Two' for Film"

1. Emily - 1/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "The Witch Collector Book Number Two". The storyline was confusing and all over the place. It felt like there were too many subplots that did not tie together well. Additionally, the characters lacked depth and development. I couldn't connect with any of them and found myself not caring about their outcomes. Overall, this book was a letdown and I would not recommend it.
2. John - 2/5 stars - While the first book in this series was enjoyable, the second installment, "The Witch Collector Book Number Two", fell flat for me. The pacing was incredibly slow, and it took a long time for the plot to progress. I found myself struggling to stay interested and had to force myself to continue reading. There were also many inconsistencies and plot holes that were never addressed, leaving me feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. I was hoping for more from this sequel, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations.
3. Sarah - 2/5 stars - "The Witch Collector Book Number Two" felt like a repeat of the first book. The storyline was predictable, and there were no new surprises or twists. It felt like the author was simply recycling the same ideas and concepts without adding anything fresh. Additionally, the writing style was lackluster and did not captivate my attention. I was hoping for more growth and development in the second book, but it just felt like a rehash of the first one. Overall, I was disappointed and will not be continuing with the series.
