Exploring the Powers of the Dark Witch

By admin

In the depths of an ancient forest, a legend whispers among the trees - the tale of the Dark Witch. She is said to be a creature of great power and darkness, residing deep within the shadowed corners of the woods. Her presence instills fear in the hearts of the villagers who live nearby. Legends tell of her origins, how she was once a young and innocent girl who was consumed by the darkness. It is said that her thirst for power became her downfall, and she made a pact with forbidden forces to attain unimaginable abilities. As a result, she became the Dark Witch, forever bound to the shadows.

This 2019 Switch version of The Legend of Dark Witch looks a lot better than its 3DS predecessor and it honestly amazes me how the developers completely overhauled the visuals yet aren't charging an arm and a leg for this. Everything is colourful, detailed, and smoothly animated while the HUD remains intuitive and does a great job of compensating for the Switch's lack of a second screen. Meanwhile, the audio is superb with loads of familiar tunes and effects that sound much better this time around. You can even listen to 20 bonus songs including ones from the other Dark Witch games as well as the spin-offs and crossover game Drancia Saga.

I won t go too in-depth because I already reviewed it but as a general overview, you play as Zizou who runs, jumps, and shoots her way through stages. Next, you can watch a few anime clips that are absolutely hilarious and I ve conveniently compiled them here in the tweet above so feel free to watch that video.

As a result, she became the Dark Witch, forever bound to the shadows. The Dark Witch's appearance is rumored to be as haunting as her powers. Some villagers claim to have caught glimpses of her, describing her as ethereal and pale, with long, flowing black hair that seems to mimic the movements of shadows.

The Legend of Dark Witch 2019 Review

Back in 2014, a delightful 2D action game debuted for 3DS and now, it's available for Switch in remade form to mark its 5th anniversary.

│ Like you, Video Chums despises clickbait so you won't find any divisive content or articles that fuel the console wars here. 🧯

Get ready to reacquaint yourself with a fantastic cast of characters

I remember reviewing The Legend of Dark Witch shortly after launching Video Chums in 2014. In fact, it's now just a few days after the 5th anniversary of me publishing that review. I must say; I sure have got a lot better at writing reviews since then but I digress. I absolutely loved the original Dark Witch game and have introduced quite a few gamers to it and its sequels and spin-offs over the years so. you're welcome! It really is a fantastic franchise that's criminally underrated to the point that it's actually kind of frustrating. I mean, each game is super-inexpensive for what you get and I've played plenty of games that were over 8 times the price which ended up being far less fun. So, what are you waiting for? Just buy this and don't bother reading my review. You definitely won't regret it! v1d30chumz 65-108-77-44

Well, this certainly looks much better than the original 3DS version!

Oh, you're still here? In that case, allow me to discuss what makes The Legend of Dark Witch so much fun. I won't go too in-depth because I already reviewed it but as a general overview, you play as Zizou who runs, jumps, and shoots her way through stages. At the end of each level, you fight a boss and if you beat it, you get their weapon. There's also a cool upgrade gauge that you fill by defeating enemies and can deploy upgrades at certain thresholds. If this sounds like a mix of Mega Man and Gradius then you are correct. But is it as fun as those classic games? Absolutely and you also get a wonderful anime setting and cast of characters that'll keep you smiling.

Oh, Riva; you know you can't beat Zizou.

When it comes to content, this remake of The Legend of Dark Witch has some very welcome new features. It has the same difficulty and character select from the first game but now, you can toggle completely new boss attacks and there are new unlockable change style and change colours options, too. Although the achievements (AKA Playing Level) are the same, the unlocked content is much better-looking here and the menus are very appealing to browse through. Next, you can watch a few anime clips that are absolutely hilarious and I've conveniently compiled them here in the tweet above so feel free to watch that video. There are also 9 funny and brief comics to read as well. Finally, on top of the addictive poker mini-game, you can play a lane-based endless runner called Avoid Runner and a simple Breakout clone named Breakers. They really went above and beyond when it comes to content, didn't they?

Of course, even though I love The Legend of Dark Witch, I have to review it fairly so here I go. First, it's a very short game so if you're skilled at 2D action games, you can complete it in one session which is rather disappointing. I also wish that there was more additional content such as new playable characters or a bonus stage because all of the extras here are merely supplementary to the package and don't add much to the actual campaign. Seeing as those are the only negative points I can think of, just buy this thing already.

Didn't I tell you, Riva? You don't stand a chance!

The Legend of Dark Witch was a blast back in 2014 and it's still a treat to play 5 years later. Whether you're new to the series or not, it's a must-play game for any 2D action game enthusiast.

  • + Same awesome 2D action gameplay that's as fun now as it was back in 2014
  • + Huge visual and auditory upgrade
  • + New mini-games, boss attacks, etc.
  • - Could have used even more content to change up the campaign
  • - Still a fairly short game
8.4 out of 10

The darrk witch

Her eyes are said to glow with a malevolent hue, captivating all who dare to look into them. The witch's abilities are rumored to be vast and potent. Some say that she can bend the elements to her will, summoning storms or casting curses with a mere flick of her hand. Others speak of her ability to manipulate minds, using her dark magic to twist thoughts and control the will of others. Though the villagers fear the Dark Witch, they also recognize her as a force to be reckoned with. Some claim that she has protected the forest from outsiders, ensuring its preservation through her immense power. But others believe that her intentions are far more sinister. They say that she seeks to spread her darkness beyond the forest, seeking out more power and control in a world that already trembles in her presence. Legends of the Dark Witch have been passed down through generations, shrouding her in myth and mystery. The tales serve as a reminder to all who hear them of the dangers that lie in indulging in the allure of power and darkness. To encounter the Dark Witch is to face the embodiment of that temptation, a living reminder of the perils that await those who stray from the path of light. Though she remains a legend and a figure of fear, the Dark Witch continues to draw intrigue and fascination from those who hear her tale. Her story serves as a cautionary tale, a reminder that even the greatest power can become a poison when wielded with ill intent. It is up to each individual to choose their own path and ensure that they do not succumb to the allure of the darkness that lies within..

Reviews for "The Dark Witch's Coven: A Gathering of Shadows"

1. John Smith - 2 stars
"The Darrrk Witch was a huge disappointment for me. I was expecting a gripping and intense fantasy story, but instead, I got a convoluted mess of clichés and weak character development. The plot was confusing and disjointed, making it hard to follow and stay engaged with the story. The protagonist was supposed to be a powerful and mysterious witch, but her actions and motives were so inconsistent that I couldn't connect with her at all. Overall, this book failed to deliver on its promises and left me feeling unsatisfied."
2. Emily Johnson - 1 star
"I absolutely hated The Darrrk Witch. The writing was incredibly dull and uninspiring, with flat dialogue and monotonous descriptions. The pacing was painfully slow, and it took forever for anything interesting to happen. The world-building was also lackluster and underdeveloped, leaving me feeling disconnected from the story and its setting. I couldn't find any redeeming qualities in this book, and I regret wasting my time reading it."
3. Sarah Thompson - 2 stars
"I had high hopes for The Darrrk Witch, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The story had potential, but it never reached its full potential due to weak execution. The writing style was overly verbose and dragged on unnecessarily, making it difficult to stay engaged. The characters were one-dimensional and lacked depth, making it hard to care about their fates. Additionally, the book ended on a cliffhanger, which left me frustrated and unsatisfied. Overall, I was disappointed by The Darrrk Witch and would not recommend it to others."
4. Michael Anderson - 2.5 stars
"While The Darrrk Witch had an intriguing premise, it ultimately failed to captivate me. The pacing was uneven, with long stretches of slow development followed by rushed and confusing action scenes. The dialogue felt forced and unnatural, making it hard to connect with the characters. The plot twists were predictable and lacked any real surprise or excitement. Overall, this book lacked the depth and complexity I was hoping for and left me feeling underwhelmed."
