It’s also a legend that was almost lost in time until only a few years ago. But the most incredible thing about the mighty WITCH and their brilliant garage, blues and psych-rock sound is that the story isn’t over yet.
With Zango, the band’s first new album in nearly forty years — full of international and inter-generational collaborations that chart musical histories from Zambia and beyond — Zamrock lives again.
“Zango means ‘meeting place’” explain the band. “Every village will have this central place, where villagers meet to prepare for work, where youngsters go to learn, where the young ones learn from the elder folks, and where the visitors come and converge. Limited to 500 copies, the VMP exclusive version of WITCH's Zango is pressed on Zambian Green vinyl at Gotta Groove Records. The 1LP will arrive in a single, direct-to-board, foil-stamped and numbered jacket. It was mastered at World of Paint Studios, Antwerp.
