Enchanting melody by Mr Magic
A virtuoso of enchanting melodies – the magical side of Electro Swing. Riff Kitten feat. Tony Mac – “Magical”
Electro Swing artists very often add melodies played on the piano to their songs. I love the sound of this instrument. It totally relaxes me, calms me down and puts me in a great mood. I even have my favourite Electro Swing pianists – these composers not only have fantastic skill, but also an incredible musical sense.
Each of them is different and has a completely different style of playing. Okay, I won’t keep you in the dark any longer: it’s Dimaa, Dave Wave, DanyloM and the hero of my review today, which is of course Riff Kitten. What sets him apart from the aforementioned artists? Calm, soothing melodies to which, of course, you can dance.
I, due to the fact that I can’t dance, I’m going to sit comfortably on the sofa today, sway slowly to the rhythm and write what I think of Riff Kitten’s new single. I invite you to a unique world of magic and enchanting music – I present to you “Magical” and… one more song. :)
“Magical”
You’ll have to forgive me, but I couldn’t start the review from the beginning this time. The piano solo made such an electrifying impression on me that I can’t stop marvelling until now. I haven’t heard anything so beautiful and touching for a long time. If you’re not a fan of quiet songs, “Magical” is worth a listen, if only for this solo (spoiler: you’ll hear this magical passage around 01:25). And if you like this soothing melody, you should know that it will also appear towards the end of this track.
So you have no choice but to listen to “Magical” in its entirety. And then listen to it again. And again. Why? Because it took me about three plays to become fully convinced of this song. I don’t regret a single minute of it – Riff Kitten is a brilliant wizard here, who has chosen a really great assistant to help him! Tony Mac, I’m talking about you now!
That wonderful soulful voice is the perfect complement to what Riff Kitten has composed. I feel that when I hear Tony’s vocals, I immediately feel warmer. Phew, as I write this review, fortunately it’s not hot in Poland, so I don’t have to be afraid of getting too hot. :)
Don’t think to yourself that ‘Magical’ is just piano and singing. Riff Kitten has added subtle percussion, a perfect sounding magical trumpet. I think I hear a guitar as well, but be sure to correct me if I’m wrong! :)
“Ruffled Feathers”
I promised you I would say a few more words about another song. “Ruffled Feathers” is the B-side of the single “Magical”. I found out about it by accident when I was doing research for this review – the release of this composition was announced on their social media by Riff Kitten and the music label Freshly Squeezed. For a change, this is an instrumental, so don’t go looking for warming vocals here. Instead, I’m sure you’ll find the perfect piano sound and Riff Kitten‘s incredible virtuosity quite sufficient and satisfying.
When I listen to ‘Ruffled Feathers’, I think to myself that this tune would make a fantastic backdrop to some old film or fairy tale. It takes me back to the old days again, it really is a great feeling!
I went back to ‘Magical’ for a while more, and then immediately listened to ‘Ruffled Feathers’. And you know what? I thought of these songs in the context of the seasons. I associate the former song with hot summer, the end of July and the beginning of August. And the second composition – with a slight chill, autumn and Halloween mood. I wonder if, when colder days arrive, these songs will evoke similar feelings in me… :)

Anna (LadyDot) was born in ’94, but always felt she came from the Golden Twenties. “Polka” in Polish means “girl from Poland”, so she’s “Polka in polka dots”. She loves vintage style and spontaneous travels around Europe. But her greatest love (apart from her husband) is of course music, especially Electro Swing.

Reviews for "songs like new mabic wand"
1. Sarah - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with "Songs like new magic wand". The lyrics were repetitive and lackluster, and the melody didn't draw me in at all. I found it to be quite forgettable and not worth the hype it got. Tyler, the Creator has done much better in my opinion, and this song just didn't resonate with me at all.
2. John - 1 star - I can't understand the appeal of "Songs like new magic wand" at all. The production felt messy and chaotic, making it difficult for me to enjoy the song. The autotuned vocals were grating and just added to the overall unpleasantness of the track. It lacked a cohesive structure and felt like a jumbled mess of ideas. Definitely not my cup of tea.
3. Emily - 2 stars - "Songs like new magic wand" was a complete letdown for me. The heavy use of distorted electronic sounds gave me a headache, and I couldn't even make sense of the lyrics. It lacked the depth and emotional resonance that I usually associate with Tyler, the Creator's music. Overall, it felt like a disjointed and incoherent mess, and I found myself skipping it every time it came on.
4. David - 3 stars - I wasn't a huge fan of "Songs like new magic wand". While I appreciated the experimental production and unique sound, it just didn't click with me. The song felt repetitive and lacked a strong hook that could have made it more memorable. It's an acquired taste, and unfortunately, it didn't capture my interest.
5. Olivia - 2 stars - "Songs like new magic wand" fell flat for me. The lyrics felt simplistic and uninspired, and the overall melody lacked creativity. Tyler, the Creator has shown his talent and creativity in the past, but this song just felt lackluster and forgettable. It's a shame because I had high expectations after hearing positive reviews, but it just didn't live up to the hype for me.
