S hazam (Zachary Levi), as well as the rest of his family of superheroes have been labeled by the media as “The Philadelphia Fiascoes” due to their almost childlike naiveté in handling crisis situations. They may save lives, but they also cause a lot of property damage. Little does the world know that this is because they are all, on the inside, really just teenagers who were given their powers only a few years ago as seen in “Shazam!” (2019).
Due to Shazam’s unwitting destruction of the wizard’s staff, the barrier between our realm and the one of Greek mythology has vanished. This mistake allows Kalypso (Lucy Liu), Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Anthea (Rachel Zegler), also known as the ‘daughters of Atlas,’ to visit Earth and wreak death and destruction. But what are the ‘goddesses’ ultimate goal? Will the family of super-heroes become be able to thwart their sinister plans. And what will happen to Shazam’s alter ego or rather the teen within him, Billy Batson (Asher Angel), as he is about to turn 18 and must leave his foster family?
The plot of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is straight forward and all sub-plots, few that they are, tie back to either Shazam’s family or the aforementioned ‘daughters of Atlas’. Similar to DC films of late, the movie showcases the barest amount of exposition needed in order to transition to the next lengthy fight scene and features much material worth mentioning.
These daemons are often associated with specific qualities or aspects of existence and are believed to have their own consciousness and intentions. While the association between Shazam, the occult, and daemons may seem unusual, it is likely due to the esoteric nature of the word and its historical connotations. The word "Shazam" has become a popular catchphrase in the world of entertainment, thanks to a fictional superhero character of the same name who possesses extraordinary powers. However, it is important to note that the mystical aspects of Shazam and daemons mentioned here are more rooted in ancient mythology and occult beliefs rather than the modern-day app or superhero. Overall, the concept of Shazam occult and daemons is a fascinating intersection of ancient mysticism and contemporary technology. 1. John - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Shazam occult and daemons." The movie felt like a mishmash of different genres and couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a lighthearted superhero film or a dark occult horror. The storyline was confusing and lacked any depth, leaving me feeling disconnected from the characters. Additionally, the use of daemons, which were portrayed as evil entities, felt like a misguided attempt at incorporating supernatural elements. Overall, I found the movie to be disjointed and lacking a clear vision.
2. Emily - 1/5 stars - "Shazam occult and daemons" was a complete disaster in my opinion. The concept of mixing a child superhero with occult themes just didn't work for me. The execution was sloppy, and it felt like the filmmakers were trying too hard to be edgy and different. The plot was convoluted and seemed to jump from one random scene to another without any clear direction. The daemons were supposed to add a sense of danger, but they only came across as cheesy and unconvincing. I couldn't wait for the movie to end, and I was left feeling unsatisfied and confused.
3. Sarah - 2/5 stars - I had high hopes for "Shazam occult and daemons," but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The movie lacked a solid storyline and relied too heavily on CGI and special effects. The inclusion of daemons felt forced and unnecessary, and it distracted from the main plot. The humor also felt forced and didn't land well, resulting in awkward and cringe-worthy moments. Overall, "Shazam occult and daemons" failed to deliver on its promising premise and left me unimpressed.
4. Michael - 2.5/5 stars - While "Shazam occult and daemons" had its moments, I found the overall execution to be lacking. The mixing of superhero elements with occult themes felt contrived, and the movie struggled to find a balance between the two. The pacing was uneven, and the plot meandered without much direction. The daemons, which were supposed to be menacing, came across as comical and cartoonish. Though the movie had some entertaining scenes, it ultimately failed to leave a lasting impression.
