The drifter is eloquent, and speaks almost entirely in Koan-like statements, such as, Sometimes, we try to please so many others, we lose sight of those who are most important.
She uncovers Anna's journal, which reveals that she had made a dangerous bargain with the sea witch years ago. As Evie unravels the truth behind Anna's death and the sea witch's motives, she realizes that the line between good and evil is blurry. She finds herself questioning her own desires and the lengths she would go to obtain her heart's deepest desires.
