The Role of Puerto Rican Watchmakers in the Luxury Market

By admin

The Puerto Rican Witch, also known as "Bruja" in Spanish, is a folkloric figure that is deeply rooted in the traditional beliefs and practices of Puerto Rico. The Bruja is believed to possess supernatural powers and is often associated with casting spells, healing, and communicating with spirits. In Puerto Rican culture, the Bruja is typically portrayed as an old woman who lives on the outskirts of society and practices magic in secrecy. She is often depicted wearing a long black dress and a wide-brimmed hat, carrying a broom or a staff as her magical tools. The Bruja is thought to possess immense knowledge of herbs, potions, and spells, which she uses for both good and evil purposes. One of the key aspects of Puerto Rican witchcraft is the belief in brujería, a form of witchcraft that has been passed down through generations.

We’ll Clean Your Mascot Costume!

As a mascot performer, I’m very familiar with the stink that comes with the job. As the heat rises outside, the quicker things get stinky. Over the last fifteen years, I have smelled (and worn) some terribly filthy smelling costumes and, thankfully, had the opportunity to clean them afterwards. No stink scares me anymore. I started offering my services to clean costumes upon mounting requests from locals about seven years ago, and since then, this has become something I offer to every mascot out there, whether it’s a costume for a team, charity, restaurant or business.

Let me share two examples as to why I do this…

First, let’s go back to my college days. We had an eagle character and over the summers, we’d lend the costume to admissions/Student Life so they could use it for orientation programs and other activities. Once August would roll around, I’d pick the suit up and typically, the first event I’d bring it to would be a Mascot Game at one of the summer teams’ games. On this particular summer, the date had come earlier so I had to pick up the costume the same afternoon I was supposed to wear it. When I got to the game and opened the bag, I discovered rather quickly that not only had it not been washed a single time over the summer, but in fact, it had been stuffed back into its bag after each use and not aired out. So I was left with a soggy, moldy and unbelievably stinky eagle suit the smelled so bad that everyone in the room turned around at the same time, eventually resting their eyes on me, realizing that the odor was coming from my costume. I alerted my boss who was less than pleased and somewhat embarrassed; I don’t think he wanted folks to think that if our eagle stinks, that our college must, too. We sprayed it down with cans of body spray and muscled through the night, relieved when it finally ended and I could take it home and wash it. It took a few cycles but I was able to rid it and the bag of the mold and the smell.

My second example came from a local businessman who was the sponsor of one of the local teams. I’ll keep them nameless for now. Their costume is a tricky one to clean due to its size and construction; the suit itself is extremely thick and padded so it was nearly impossible for it to air out properly as moisture would stay trapped inside. Folks eventually didn’t want to wear it due to the smell and the fact that the paws and leggings were constantly wet with the sweat of whomever wore it last. He turned to me and I cleaned it, washing it a few times to ensure it was thorough and having to get creative to make sure it aired out properly. Wearing it afterwards was a breeze.

So, what can Mascots United do for you? Clean your mascot costume, of course! We have many clients who turn to us after their season concludes or after a set of extensive outings. And, if you’re near the Rochester, NY area, I can usually pick up and return the costume directly from/to you, saving you time! And rates are generally between $35 and $45, depending on the size of the costume. Please note that any repairs needed might be under a separate cost. Interested? In the meantime, here are some tips to keep your costume fresh:

  • Air out the costume after each use! Don’t store it in the bag/case after sweating in it as it will get disgusting fast. Mold and bacteria like warm, dark and moist environments.
  • Spray the inside of the costume with color-safe antibacterial sprays. This will eat some of the odor causing bacteria and help keep your performers healthy. Just please, don’t put the costume on immediately after spraying it! The fumes could make the performer sick.
  • Spot clean smudges and grime before they stain.
  • When airing out a costume, sometimes it’s best to set it by a running fan(s). This ensures proper air circulation to damp areas which will dry it out before it has a chance to smell.
  • Do not dry clean a mascot costume! Faux fur will be ruined by dry cleaning chemicals. Some dry cleaners do know to wash a costume normally, but be prepared to pay big bucks for it.
  • If you try to clean the costume yourself, make sure it does not clog your machine! Use only color-safe detergents! And never put a costume in the dryer! Line dry only!
I have met Elliott (the beaver) during the 10th year party that was held on September 9th and I can confirm that parents and students were quite impressed by Elliott. Your team did a great job! Please thank all your team members.

Reviews for "The Captivating Storytelling of Puerto Rican Watch Design"

1. John - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with "Puerto Rican Witch". The storyline was confusing and hard to follow, and the characters were one-dimensional. The acting was also subpar, with wooden performances and lack of emotion. I wanted to like this movie, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.
2. Sarah - 1/5 - "Puerto Rican Witch" was a complete waste of time. The plot was incredibly slow and dragged on for what felt like hours. The film tried to be mysterious and eerie, but it was just plain boring. The characters were uninteresting and poorly developed, making it difficult to care about their fates. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.
3. Mike - 2/5 - I found "Puerto Rican Witch" to be underwhelming. The storyline had potential, but it was executed poorly. The pacing was off, with some scenes feeling rushed and others dragging on unnecessarily. The film lacked a clear vision, resulting in a disjointed and confusing narrative. Overall, I was left unsatisfied and uninvested in the characters.
4. Emily - 2.5/5 - Although "Puerto Rican Witch" had an intriguing premise, it failed to deliver on its promises. The acting was decent, but the script lacked depth and substance. The movie had a slow start and picked up towards the end, but by then, I had already lost interest. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype.
