Reading the negative feedback below, I totally understand why some people would not like this webtoon. Lots of readers' comments in Webtoon also said they had trouble following the story and needed explanation -- which is definitely not a good look. I feel like if the characters were introduced better, it would help everything make more sense. As it is, we don't know much about the characters (mostly the demons) at all, and they just start fighting and dying already when we don't even know who is who. This is why I say it should be longer. It would've been nice if we had more chapters talking about each of the characters.

A lot of internal questions came to my mind while I was reading. Why the human character? He is so irrelevant and useless to central conflict at hand. Why did they just not communicate? I swear, everything could've been avoided if the witches talked to the demons and each other, but of course they didn't, and now so many people had to die. What were the witches powers? I didn't understand what they actually were and how it functioned.

Anyway! Despite everything, I do like this webtoon enough still. I found it interesting and the drawbacks don't negatively impact me too much. If you get frustrated easily, don't read this LOL

I just finished this series and I loved the ending.
Cons: There is very little introduction of some of the side characters that it makes the story so confusing. So much so, that in so many of the latter chapters in the series, there are a ton of ppl complaining about being confused on Line Webtoon comments and other ppl trying to explain the story. The action is great but some action/fighting panels were really confusing.
Pros: I don't understand why a lot of ppl hate the main girl, I def like her. The guy, Gamin, was great too even though a lot of ppl complain about him doing nothing but I think him doing nothing, and just living like a normal human was the goal all along (read the story). You know how there are series with human characters who get roped into worlds of magic and later they themselves learn how to wield that magic. well this isn't like that.

This is for a very specific demography the ones how likes mythos' say Norse mythology (Odin, Thor, Loki), Shinto (Amaterasu, Izanagi, Inari Ōkami), etc.

In short this is a Korean take on witches the mythology over there is separated by 3 definitions, myth (shinhwa), legend (cheonseol), and folktale (mindam) and is very rich, making this version refreshing being that a lot of folklore is used in the witches setting, existence wise.

Warning there's fighting, a lot! yet I could only put this on the josei category' & the ending wasn't bad. but need's a longer Epilogue.. cause I want to see where everyone else ends up' other thing! "NO Romance" is always better than dumb romance, gratitude to you for that author! XOX

This story will be good for older reader, if you are under 15.. means your attention span is short, so I'll recommend other stuff go Naruto, Bleach or better Pokemon!.

The story takes a turn and dumps a bunch of characters on you. Then the story speeds up and finishes. You will have no idea what goes on in most chapters and you won't remember half of the characters names. Overall it is not the worst story you will ever read, that does not mean you should read it, though.

This story started out so-so. Nothing terrific. It doesn't help that none of the characters in it are very likable. Then we get to the time skip portion where we flash back to the main girls past. This is where the series completely crashes and burns. Her past is drawn out way too far. They took an already unlikable main character and completely ruined her in it. I'm not sure what the writer was thinking, but this is how not to make us stick around or care about your characters. I had to drop it at about chapter 45.

Was this comment useful? Yes No The most interesting character is the human. by bobIV123

In a world where there are witches and demons running around, I don't understand how the most interesting character is some human who happens to be a kleptomaniac. What's worse is that, right now (ch 35ish), the story has been doing a super-long flashback centered around a witch, which means no klepto human, which means I'm tempted to drop this.

Update: dropped it in the flashback arc. I do not care about that character's past, present, or future. As a character, she brings nothing to the table at all; everything about her that isn't vague or unclear is boring and uninspired. I care more about a side character that appears in like, 5 chapters tops (the doctor) than I do about this major character with a flashback arc almost as long as the story up to that point. That such a soulless character would put under a microscope to such a degree. it blows my mind.

Reviews for "Spellbound: The Magic of Manga Witch Hunting"

1. Jane - 2-stars - I really thought that "Manga revolving around witch hunting" would be an exciting read, but I was sorely disappointed. The story felt repetitive and lacked originality. The characters were one-dimensional, and I couldn't connect with any of them. Additionally, the artwork was average at best, and failed to capture the darker and more mysterious aspects of witch hunting. Overall, I found this manga to be dull and uninspiring.
2. Mike - 1-star - I had high hopes for "Manga revolving around witch hunting," but it turned out to be a complete letdown. The plot was predictable, and the pacing was all over the place. There were too many unnecessary subplots that didn't add anything significant to the story. Moreover, the dialogue felt forced and unnatural, making it difficult to immerse myself in the narrative. The artwork was also lackluster, failing to showcase the intensity and thrill I was expecting from a manga about witch hunting. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this one.
3. Sarah - 2-stars - As a fan of manga, I was excited to dive into "Manga revolving around witch hunting," but it fell short of my expectations. The story lacked depth and failed to explore the fascinating world of witch hunting. The characters were forgettable and lacked development, making it hard to invest in their journey. The artwork, although decent, didn't stand out either. Overall, this manga felt like a missed opportunity to create an engaging and captivating witch hunting tale, and I was left feeling unimpressed.
