1. Emily - 2/5 stars - I have been a fan of the Magic Tree House series since I was a child, but book 30 just didn't live up to my expectations. The storyline felt rushed and lacking in depth. Additionally, the main characters, Jack and Annie, acted out of character and their actions didn't make sense based on their established personalities. I was also disappointed with the historical accuracy of the book, as it seemed like the author didn't put much effort into researching the time period. Overall, I found this installment of the series to be a letdown and I'm not sure if I would continue reading the rest of the books.
2. Matthew - 2.5/5 stars - While I appreciate the educational element of the Magic Tree House series, book 30 just didn't capture my interest like the previous books did. The plot felt predictable and the adventure didn't feel as exciting or engaging. Additionally, the writing style seemed too simplistic and I would have liked to see more complex vocabulary and sentence structure. Overall, I found this book to be a bit underwhelming and I hope future installments will bring back the magic and excitement of the earlier books in the series.
3. Sarah - 1/5 stars - As an adult reader, I couldn't help but feel that this book was written for a much younger audience. The characters lacked depth and the storyline was too simplified. I understand that this is a children's book, but I had hoped for some more complexity and depth, similar to other children's series like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. The writing style was also not engaging enough to hold my interest. I was ultimately disappointed with this book and I don't think I would recommend it to anyone over the age of 10.
