The Jiicy Magic Juicy IPA is brewed using a combination of different hops, which contribute to its unique flavor profile. First off, what is Juicy Truth?

Juicy Truth is a new Hazy IPA that’s a unique brand extension of our flagship IPA, Truth. It’s the culmination of years of experimentation with recipes and ingredients that enhance the fruity, juice-like character that makes Hazy IPAs so universally appealing.

Hazy IPAs go by several different names––Juicy IPAs, New England-Style IPAs, Unfiltered IPAs, etc. What does it mean to say Juicy Truth is a Hazy/Juicy IPA?

Hazy IPAs originated in New England and exploded in popularity over the last few years. Traditionally dry hopped beers, including West Coast IPAs, are made by allowing fermentation to finish before adding a massive dose of hops. By adding hops during fermentation, the time that yeast is actively converting sugars from malt into alcohol, chemical changes to the hop oils by yeast create intense fruity flavors. Hops are also withheld from the boil or whirlpool, meaning the beer has little residual bitterness. Additions of other grains, like wheat and oats, create a smooth, full-bodied mouthfeel. Add all these factors together and you’re left with a low bitterness, incredibly fruity, juice-like IPA, with haze as a by-product of this process. By not passing these beers through a filter (or in our case, a centrifuge, since we don’t filter any of our beer), that haze is preserved in the final product.

What makes Juicy Truth different from Truth?

While they share a few similar malts and hops, Truth and Juicy Truth are very different beers, made using drastically different brewing techniques. Truth is a traditional West Coast IPA, with high bitterness, good clarity, and loads of pithy grapefruit and resinous pine. Much of this hop character comes from a massive post-fermentation dry hopping regimen. The hops in Juicy Truth are added during fermentation, allowing a process called “biotransformation” to occur, where yeast converts hop compounds into fruit terpenes. To drive that juice character even further, Juicy Truth is brewed using both wheat and oats, which add body, creating a more juice-like mouthfeel.

What makes Juicy Truth different from our rotating, unfiltered Hazy IPA series, Cloud Harvest?

Cloud Harvest, especially the initial numbered iterations, was our way of testing out new hops and yeast, while also refining our brewing processes to ensure maximum juice and haze. This experimentation allowed us to perfect the flavor, mouthfeel, and appearance of Juicy Truth. We honed in on the perfect bitterness level, as well as the right recipe to ensure haze stability, even in cans.

Appearance: Light gold with heavy haze and thick, white foam.

Aroma: Juicy pineapple, fresh mango, and hints of orange juice and citrus peel.

Taste: Low bitterness allows all the flavors of tropical fruit and citrus to shine, mainly fresh pineapple and mango.

Mouthfeel: Full and creamy like freshly squeezed fruit juice.

Overall: Juicy Truth is a light gold, Hazy IPA that features massive fruity notes of fresh pineapple, ripe mango, juicy citrus, and low bitterness. Additions of oats and wheat create a juice-like mouthfeel that evokes freshly squeezed fruit.

What foods would pair well with Juicy Truth?
