Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there stood a **magical song castle**. This enchanting castle was unlike any other in the kingdom, for it had the power to bring music to life. The walls of the castle were adorned with musical notes, and the air was filled with melodious tunes that echoed throughout the day. At the heart of the castle, there was a grand hall where the most wondrous performances took place. The moment a musician stepped foot into this hall, their instrument would come to life. The keys of the piano would dance, the strings of the violin would sing, and the drums would pulsate with an infectious rhythm.

Aeonium 'Pink Witch'

Scientific Classification

Family: Crassulaceae
Subfamily: Sempervivoideae
Tribe: Aeonieae

Description

Aeonium 'Pink Witch' is a beautiful compact succulent that forms variegated rosettes of leaves showing shades of pink, green, and white. It can grow up to 18 inches (45 cm) tall and produces rings of offsets at an early age, quickly forming an attractive clump. The spoon-shaped leaves have soft pointed tips and slightly ciliate margins. Their colors change depending on the season and growing conditions. During the winter, the leaves are green with white outer portions and only a small amount of pink on the margins. The pink tones slowly became more apparent in spring and most vibrant in summer.

Flowering has not been observed to date.

How to Grow and Care for Aeonium 'Pink Witch'

Light: Aeonium 'Pink Witch' thrives in full sun to partial shade, but in summer, light shade may be necessary, especially during the hotter afternoon hours. When growing indoors, ensure it receives as much bright indirect light as possible to prevent the plant from becoming leggy and stretched.

Soil: Unlike most succulents, this plant requires a sandy loam or regular potting soil amended with perlite. Avoid placing it in premade soil mixes designed for succulents since it needs more moisture than they typically provide.

Temperature: Aeonium 'Pink Witch' does not like hot or dry weather, so it may go dormant in summer. It grows best in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 10a to 11b, with average minimum winter temperatures ranging from 30 to 50 °F (-1.1 to 10 °C).

Watering: Water the plant thoroughly in spring and fall, allowing the soil to dry before watering again. During the winter, water it more sparingly. Although this plant requires more water than most succulents, too much moisture can lead to root rot. During its dormancy in summer, stop watering except in arid conditions.

Fertilizing: To stimulate growth and improve the appearance of the plant, apply a water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength only during the growing season.

Repotting: If growing Aeonium 'Pink Witch' in a container, repot it every two to three years during the spring. Choose a container with drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Propagation: This plant is easy to propagate by stem cuttings. Take cuttings during the growing season and allow the cut end to dry for several days before planting.

Toxicity of Aeonium 'Pink Witch'

Aeonium 'Pink Witch' is considered non-toxic, so it is safe for growing around children and pets.

Aeonium Pink Witch

Most plants are shown in 2 Inch pots (square), 4 Inch pots (round or square), 6 Inch pots (round), and 8 Inch pots (round). The Size option, such as 2 Inch, 4 Inch, etc., typically represents the size of the pot that the plant is shown in. In most cases, it does not represent the width, length, or height of the plant, with some exceptions: - Monkey Tail Cactus: The size represents the length of the cactus - Some columnar cactus / cacti plants - Certain plants that are shown without a pot

Letter Suffix in Size

When a letter is added to the size value (Example: 2 Inch #A or 4 Inch #B), it represents different variants of the same size. The meaning could vary depending on the type of plant. The corresponding listing photos of each size variant provide the best representation of the plants that you'll receive. The letter suffix could represent one or more of the following: - Differences in plant maturity and/or fullness - Differences in plant size and/or shape - Differences in style and/or color - Differences in amount of variegation - Unrooted cuttings vs. rooted plants

Packaging & Handling

Vast majority of our plants shown in 4 Inch or larger pots are shipped bare roots (See below fore more details). Most plants shown in 2 Inch pots are shipped in their original plastic pots with soil because they are small and are less subject to damaging during transit. We carefully wrap each plant with wrapping paper and place them securely inside the box. Then, we fill the remaining space in the box with newsprint paper, air pillows, or crinkle paper to ensure the plants don't move around during shipping, and hence minimize shipping shock.

If your local temperature is below 50°F, please add a heat pack to your order to ensure the safe delivery of your plants. If you have any special instructions or need the package to leave our nursery at any specific date, please add a note in your order during check-out.

Tips:
Once you receive your purchase, we recommend planting the succulents in soil immediately. Due to shipping, the plants may appear dry, soft, or lighter/darker in color compared to the photos in the online pictures.

Soil:
For optimal growth, use porous, well-draining soil with a 1:1 ratio of amendment (like pumice or perlite) to cactus/succulent soil. This provides proper drainage and prevents root rot. Monitor soil moisture and adjust watering accordingly, as succulents require minimal watering and dislike sitting in wet soil.

Sunlight:
Introduce sunlight to your new plants gradually. Do not put your succulents in direct sunlight, but instead try to increase the sun exposure gradually in your home or outside. Leaving your new plants in direct sun will lead to sunburns. We normally suggest our customers have 40% shade fabric in the area that has intense sunlight.

Watering:
To keep your succulent healthy, water it only when the soil is dry, and avoid letting it sit on wet soil overnight to prevent root rot.

Cactus upon Arrivals:
Upon receiving your cactus, it's essential to handle it with care to avoid damaging the plant. It's recommended to wait at least one week after receiving your cactus before watering to allow it to acclimate to its new environment. Once ready, water your cactus sparingly, being careful not to overwater as this can cause root rot. During the dormant season, typically in the winter, it's important to avoid watering your cactus altogether. By following these simple steps, you can help your cactus thrive and enjoy its unique beauty for years to come.
