Holger Rune Patrick Mouratoglou is a young tennis player from Denmark. He was born on April 29, 2003, in the city of Gentofte. Holger Rune's father is Danish, and his mother is Greek. He started playing tennis at a very young age and quickly showed great potential. Holger Rune trained at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in France, which is led by renowned coach Patrick Mouratoglou. Mouratoglou has coached many successful players, including Serena Williams.

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou has confirmed that he and world No 4 Holger Rune have ended their partnership. Following Rune's surprise US Open first-round loss to Roberto Carballes Baena, the Dane's mother Aneke told a Danish publication that her son and coach Mouratoglou were parting ways.

Mouratoglou has coached many successful players, including Serena Williams. Under his guidance, Holger Rune honed his skills and developed into a top-level player. Rune's breakthrough came in 2019 when he won the Junior French Open at the age of 16, becoming the first Danish player to win a Grand Slam title in singles.

"It just didn’t work out.
Right now it is important that Holger finds the right team, that he can have for a long time. He has decided that isn’t with Patrick," Aneke Rune told Jakob Kløcker of Danish publication BT.

In the spring of 2022, Mouratoglou started coaching Simona Halep.
After Simona Halep was handed a doping ban, Mouratoglou agreed to join Rune's team for the remainder of the 2022 season. The Rune and Mouratoglou partnership got off to a very strong start as the Dane won Stockholm and then also lifted his first Masters title in Paris.
Following his Paris win, Rune also broke into the top-10 for the first time in his career. Since Halep's ban wasn't lifted before the start of the 2023 season, Mouratoglou continued to work with Rune. This year, Rune won an ATP 250 event in Munich and also finished as runner-up at the Masters events in Monte Carlo in Rome.
But Rune didn't manage to accomplish his goal of becoming a Grand Slam champion this year. After suffering his third consecutive loss at the US Open, Rune made a decision to part ways with Mouratoglou.

With quarter-final exit at Wimbledon, losses in the first round of the Masters 1000 tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati, and most recently suffering a first round exit at the hands of Roberto Carbelles Baena at the US Open, it’s been a challenging two months for the 20-year-old. Including his Hopman Cup losses, Rune has suffered six consecutive defeats.

Following this downturn in form, Aneke Rune told Danish media outlet BT Sport the following regarding her son’s coaching team moving forward:

Mouratoglou has confirmed with Tennis Majors that the separation is mutual, and was always part of the pair’s plan for 2023.

I personally did not like "Holger Rune Patrick Mouratoglou" at all. I found the storyline to be confusing and unnecessary, and the characters were not well-developed.
