Occult fishing gear refers to a wide range of fishing equipment and tools that are imbued with mystical or supernatural powers. These tools are believed to enhance the fishing abilities of individuals who use them, granting them greater success in catching fish. One common type of occult fishing gear is the enchanted fishing rod. These rods are often inscribed with ancient symbols or sigils that are said to attract fish and increase the chances of a successful catch. Some rods may also be carved from special woods or infused with magical essences to further amplify their powers. Another type of occult fishing gear is the enchanted fishing line.

Witches are neither born with spellcasting abilities, nor do they have to spend years studying or devoting themselves to divine beings. Instead, their spells and hexes come from their patron, a powerful and mysterious entity, who communicates with them through their familiar. Patrons choose witches to be their agents in the world, and prefer to keep their distance, revealing little of their identity or motivations, and usually communicating through the familiar they have sent to the witch. A patron might be a divine being, a powerful hag coven, a fey lord, an archdevil, or any other entity of similar power, or even a mix of such figures working together. 2

While patrons do not reveal their identities to witches, some information can still be gathered by studying the type of power a witch receives from them. I did make some bad spell choices, but even with hindsight, in the occult list, there was not a lot else I could take that would fulfil the role of BFC.

Another type of occult fishing gear is the enchanted fishing line. These lines are typically made from a combination of natural fibers and magical materials, such as enchanted silk or spell-infused threads. The magical properties of these lines are believed to make them stronger, more flexible, and less prone to breaking, allowing fishermen to reel in larger and more elusive fish.

Do Pathfinder Witches have a dedicated Patron spell slot?

At 2nd level, and every two levels thereafter, a witch's patron adds new spells to a witch's list of spells known. These spells are also automatically added to the list of spells stored by the familiar.

Starting at 1st level, a witch's familiar stores all of the spells that the witch knows. This does not allow the familiar to cast these spells or use spell-trigger or spell completion magic items. Starting at 2nd level, and every two levels thereafter, a witch's familiar adds new bonus spells to the witch's spell list based on her patron.

The first quote, from pg 70 states twice that the witch learns the spell - it is both "add[ed] to [the] list of spells known" and "added to the list of spells stored by the familiar", while pg 69 seems to state that spells stored by the familiar are the spells known. pg 65, under "Class Features", then "Spells" states:

A witch can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. Her base daily spell allotment is given on Table 2-10. In addition, she receives bonus spells per day if she has a high Intelligence score (see Table 1-3 of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook).

This is weak evidence though, as pg 39 of the CRB states much the same - no mention of domain slots, which are listed on pg 40-41 of the CRB:

A cleric gains one domain spell slot for each level of cleric spell she can cast, from 1st on up. Each day, a cleric can prepare one of the spells from her two domains in that slot. If a domain spell is not on the cleric spell list, a cleric can prepare it only in her domain spell slot. Domain spells cannot be used to cast and spells spontaneously.

Occult fishing gear also includes various types of bait and lures that are specially designed to appeal to fish on a mystical level. Some lures may even take on the appearance of small prey animals or shimmer with ethereal lights to entice curious fish. In addition to rods, lines, and bait, other types of occult fishing gear may include specialized fishing nets, traps, or even underwater breathing apparatuses. These tools may be enchanted to increase their effectiveness or to provide additional benefits to the fisherman, such as improved underwater vision or the ability to communicate with aquatic creatures. While the effectiveness of occult fishing gear is a subject of debate, believers in the supernatural and occult often turn to these tools in the hopes of improving their fishing abilities. Whether the results are truly paranormal or simply the result of increased confidence and skill is up to individual interpretation.
