The Spiteful Witch's Revenge: Dorothy's Fight for Justice

By admin

Dorothy and the spiteful witch Once upon a time, in the magical land of Oz, there lived a young girl named Dorothy. Dorothy lived with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry on a small farm in Kansas. One day, a tornado swept through their town, and Dorothy and her little dog Toto were whisked away to the enchanted land of Oz. As Dorothy and Toto landed in a strange and colorful world, they were greeted by Glinda the Good Witch. Glinda explained that Dorothy's house had landed on the Wicked Witch of the East, killing her and freeing the Munchkins from her tyranny. The Munchkins were overjoyed and hailed Dorothy as their hero.

I’ll always have glue.

I exited the mall, one last time, and I ended up ringing in the new year, alone, wandering a dusty, dirt road nowhere near an ocean in daylight even though it was midnight looking for a patio. Every time I got to the far end of the mall, I was forced to exit and ended up right back where I entered it in the first place, with the bus still burning in the background.

The Munchkins were overjoyed and hailed Dorothy as their hero. But little did Dorothy know, the Wicked Witch of the West, who was the sister of the deceased witch, was filled with spite and anger towards her. The Wicked Witch of the West, known for her green skin and long black robes, vowed to seek revenge on Dorothy for the death of her sister.

Nale Ba Is the 'Consensual Witch' of South India

She will call out to you in the voice of a loved one and then probably kill you, but she also respects consent and is literate.

Back in the ’90s, if you would take a walk down the lanes of Bangalore—today a thriving metropolis in the south of India—you were bound to come across doors or facades of houses painted with the words: Nale Ba (or "come tomorrow" in Kannada). These words were meant to be read by the wicked witch of the south—a presence that was said to come knock on your door, call out in the voice of a loved one to get you to peel outside, and then, well, kill you. If not, the person would still mystically die regardless, usually within 24 hours.

Today, these doors have been painted over, and the houses replaced with buildings so tall that our witch would need to get in an elevator to make it to your door. Street lights that shine all night might hamper her movements as well, but it’s important to remember that this is probably one of the few otherworldly creatures who can actually read. No wonder, considering the south of India has higher literacy levels than the rest of the country. It’s also interesting that way before consent and its nuances became global talking points, our witch was an early proponent, and had the good sense to leave whenever someone told her to. She has now been immortalized in a recent Bollywood film Stree, which sees men being wary of women, in a strange role reversal compared to what you see on the Indian streets today.

The folks of Bangalore (now Bengaluru—we wonder if the witch has been informed of its name change too) celebrate April 1 as Nale Ba Day. Who are we fooling?

Dorothy and the spiteful witch

Throughout Dorothy's journey in Oz, the Wicked Witch of the West would appear from time to time, trying to sabotage her progress and harm her. She sent a pack of wolves to attack Dorothy and her companions, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion. She sent her winged monkeys to capture Dorothy and bring her to the witch's castle. But no matter how hard the Wicked Witch of the West tried, Dorothy's goodness and pure heart shielded her from harm. With the help of her friends, she was able to overcome the witch's obstacles and outsmart her at every turn. Through their adventures and trials, Dorothy and her companions grew stronger and closer, forming an unbreakable bond. In the end, Dorothy and her friends were able to defeat the Wicked Witch of the West and return to the Emerald City, where they were celebrated as heroes. Dorothy learned the true power of friendship, love, and courage, and she understood that even the most spiteful beings can be conquered with kindness and goodness. **The main idea of this story is that despite facing the wrath of a spiteful witch, Dorothy's pure heart and the support of her friends helped her overcome all obstacles and triumph in the end. It highlights the power of friendship, love, and courage in the face of adversity.**.
