Since the end of the year is here, I thought a bright ‘magic’ changing tisane would be the perfect way to end it!

Description: “Sweet and juicy, with a nostalgic blue raspberry flavour[.] Pop of acidity when you add lemon[.]”

Instructions: 1-2 Perfect Spoonfuls | 16 oz/475 ml | 95℃/200℉

Review: Butterfly pea flowers have been a popular ingredient in teas and tisane blends for the last few years because brewing them creates bright blue/indigo liquor. I have tried the flower a few times in the past and find the changing colour aspect always fun and enjoyable.

The DAVIDsTEA Magic Potion dry blend was full of butterfly pea flowers, dried berries and fruit with a sweet, fruity, berries, and tart smell. After steeping for 6 minutes, the wet blend had a floral, sweet, berries, and current smell.

The liquor was a pale indigo colour, with little flower partials floating at the top of the liquor and a fruity candy-like smell. The liquor had a sweet floral, candy, and fruity taste with lingering stevia.

To change the colour, I added the juice of half a lemon which turned the liquor from an indigo colour to a bright magenta colour. The liquor became rather sour as lemon overpowered the taste.

After trying the tisane a few times, the perfect balance was a few drops of lemon juice, just enough to change the colour to slightly pink. The liquor still had some of the original fruity and berry taste and the lemon cut down the sweetness and paired well with the berries. Regardless with or without the added lemon, the stevia taste was still very present. Adding the lemon also made the liquor slightly cloudy. Lastly, I did not find the liquor started off as bright blue as the picture shown on the website.

Overall, this would be a lovely tisane for someone who enjoys a sweeter tea and the colour changing aspect. It may be a bit of trial and error to find a good balance where the lemon doesn’t overpower the other flavours but also changes colours (if that is what someone wants). A fun tisane to end the year off with (3/5 rating).

Reviews for "Tea for the Soul: Finding Serenity with David's Tea Magical Elixirs"

1. Sarah - 2 stars - I was really excited to try Davids Tea Magical Elixir, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The flavor was very artificial and overly sweet, making it difficult to enjoy. I also found it to be quite weak, even when I let it steep for a longer time. Overall, I was disappointed with this tea and would not purchase it again.
2. Michael - 1 star - I found Davids Tea Magical Elixir to be extremely disappointing. The taste was odd and didn't resemble anything close to what I expected. It had a strange aftertaste that lingered in my mouth, which made it unenjoyable. Additionally, I did not find any magical or enchanting qualities in this tea. I would recommend trying other teas from Davids Tea before wasting your money on this one.
3. Emily - 2 stars - The flavor of Davids Tea Magical Elixir was just not for me. It had a strong fruity taste that I found overwhelming and artificial. It almost reminded me of a fruit-flavored cough syrup instead of a tea. The aroma was also too overpowering for my liking, making the overall experience quite unpleasant. I would not recommend this tea to those who prefer more subtle and natural flavors.
