Get Crafty with Curse Doll Halloween Makeup Techniques

Curse doll Halloween makeup is a popular choice for those who want to transform into a creepy and haunting character on October 31st. This makeup look is inspired by spooky dolls that are often associated with curses and supernatural forces. It typically involves using white face paint or foundation to create a doll-like complexion, along with dark and exaggerated features. The main idea behind curse doll Halloween makeup is to create a terrifying and eerie appearance that captures the essence of a haunted doll. This can be achieved through the use of dark eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and false lashes to create a wide-eyed, almost doll-like gaze. The lips can be painted with a deep, blood-red color or left pale and natural to enhance the eerie effect.

Because I was using thick wire, I glued three sheets of craft foam to the felt base, and then stabbed the wire through the top layer of felt and into the craft foam and applied lots of glue everywhere. If you re using thinner wire, cut it really long so that you can poke it through the top layer of felt and then spiral it on the backside of the felt and glue it down.

The lips can be painted with a deep, blood-red color or left pale and natural to enhance the eerie effect. To complete the look, adding cracked details or broken porcelain patterns on the face can add to the overall creepy vibe. Accessories such as a doll-inspired wig, torn and tattered doll clothes, and even holding a broken doll prop can further enhance the curse doll Halloween makeup.

DIY Voodoo Doll Halloween Costume

Olivia is usually pretty quick to decide on her Halloween costume, but this year she hasn’t been able to decide. She knew she wanted something creepy, but wasn’t finding anything in stores. When I first suggested we make her up as a voodoo doll, she poo-pooed the idea, but the more she thought about it, the more she decided it was something she hadn’t seen around and that it was something we could make together. Read on to see how we made this super simple DIY Voodoo Doll Halloween Costume.

Initially I had planned to make a dress out of linen or burlap, but we came across this inexpensive gray number and decided we could make it work. We figured voodoo dolls can be made out of any material, right? We paired it with a black long sleeved shirt and black leggings, cause hello! It snows in Vermont on Halloween sometimes.

We started to transform the dress by using black floss to create stitching on the arms and bodice.

Next we added a heart out of iron on vinyl. We cut the Heart with my Cricut Maker and used the Cricut EasyPress to adhere the heart. After looking at the pictures we took for this post, I may add some stitching to the heart.

To make the pins we used styrofoam balls and Olivia painted them. She also painted two skewers silver. Once they were all dry, she popped the balls onto the skewers.

I hot glued a small square of thin styrofoam to the inside of the dress behind the heart. We then inserted the pins through the heart and into the styrofoam.

The last step to this creepy DIY Voodoo Doll Halloween Costume is the face makeup.

I did up her eyes with dark brown and black eyeshadow, making sure to smudge under the eyes as well. Using black liquid liner I drew on the stitches. For Halloween we plan to get some bright red lipstick to help make things pop.

The entire costume cost us under $15 and we had a blast creating it together. But seriously, could you imagine waking up to this standing over you? EEK!

Olivia loves going as creepy things for Halloween. A few years ago she went as a zombie and I shared how I did her super Simple Zombie Makeup minus the blood and brains.

But regardless of what you do, a voodoo doll costume is a great last minute idea for Halloween. It'll only take a couple hours to throw together - even less if you take some shortcuts. :D

Reviews for "Step into a Haunted World with Curse Doll Halloween Makeup"

1. Jane - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with the "Curse doll halloween makeup" kit. The quality of the products was mediocre, and the colors didn't show up well on my skin. The included brushes were flimsy and didn't apply the makeup smoothly. The packaging was also cheaply made and difficult to open. Overall, I regretted purchasing this product and would not recommend it to others.
2. Tom - 1/5 - The "Curse doll halloween makeup" was a complete waste of money for me. The makeup seemed like it had been sitting on the shelf for years as the consistency was dry and clumpy. It was impossible to blend the colors together for a seamless look. Additionally, the colors were not pigmented at all, and it took multiple layers to get any sort of noticeable effect. Save your money and invest in a better-quality makeup kit for Halloween.
3. Sarah - 2/5 - I had high hopes for the "Curse doll halloween makeup" kit, but unfortunately, it was a letdown. The colors looked vibrant and promising in the palette, but once applied, they appeared dull and faded quickly. The makeup had a strange smell, which was off-putting. The application was also difficult due to the lack of creaminess in the products. Overall, I would not recommend this kit to anyone looking for a high-quality Halloween makeup experience.
