The Diamond Wedding Star is a foundation paper pieced pattern by Quiltworx.com. This design has been added to Quiltster with a unique digitized embroidery option to add poinsettia and holly themed flowers and leaves in the background areas.

The digitized embroidery design was inspired by a quilt made by one of our customers, Lou Ellen Hassold.

Through efforts spearheaded by Certified Shop Always Quilting, Vanessa Fromm, from Fabric Confetti has created a digitized embroidery design with her own take on the Poinsettia block.

To color your own project in Quiltster, click here. You must have a Quiltster account.

What is fun and exciting about this layout in Quiltster, is that it is our first ever design in Quiltster that features a thread-line overlay where you can audition threads for your digitized embroidery!

Your kitting sheet will include the names of the threads and a swatch image (we recommend Glide thread from Fil-Tec), so a quick trip to the store to purchase your threads is all that is needed! (Threads are purchased separately and in the spool size of your choice). NOTE: Quiltster does not presently calculate the amount of thread you’ll need, it only gives the color, so you’ll need to choose the spool size that works best for you.

Quiltworx is offering kits of this design through the Quiltster Marketplace and have a limited number available. Our kits ONLY include the fabric and Diamond Wedding Star pattern or Replacement Papers. Click the images below for details and a larger view.

Finally, Quiltworx has a Creative Grids ruler specific to the Diamond Wedding Star pattern. We also recommend the 60 degree Creative Grids Ruler as a companion product as well. Click the images to go to the products on our website.

Creative Grids Diamond Wedding Ring Ruler

Templates designed by Judy Niemeyer, work with the Diamond Wedding Ring paper-piecing pattern. Use these templates to cut the segments needed to create other diamond wedding ring quilts as well.

Creative Grids 60 degree Triangle 8-1/2″ Ruler

Cut 30 and 60 degree angles – up to a finished height of 8 inches. This 60 degree equilateral triangle features easy to read black and white markings. A 1/4 inch dashed line is printed on each side of the center vertical line so you can cut 30 degree triangles that include the seam allowance.

With Quiltster, and the combined efforts of Vanessa Fromm and Always Quilting, it is easier than ever to plan and make this heirloom project!

If you look at the first photo in this article, you can see that the removal of the wool threads left a lot of residue on the fabric. I could meticulously pick it all off with tweezers. I could even use a small scrap of cloth (flannel works great) and rub over the areas for a while, and eventually pick up most of it.

Reviews for "Exploring the Magic Community at Hobby Center: Stories from Champions"

1. John - 2 stars
I had a really disappointing experience at Champions of Magic Hobby Center. The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. I asked a few questions about a particular board game I was interested in purchasing and they acted like I was bothering them. The store was also quite disorganized and cluttered, making it difficult to browse through their selection. I ended up leaving empty-handed and frustrated. I would not recommend this hobby center to anyone.
2. Emily - 1 star
I regret going to Champions of Magic Hobby Center. The entire place had a musty smell and seemed very outdated. The staff was not knowledgeable at all and couldn't answer basic questions about the products they were selling. On top of that, their prices were significantly higher than other hobby centers in the area. I would advise going elsewhere if you're looking for a better experience and better value for your money.
3. Mike - 2 stars
I found Champions of Magic Hobby Center to be disappointing. The store was incredibly cramped and there was hardly any room to move around. It was difficult to browse through their products without knocking something over or having to squeeze through narrow aisles. The staff seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic, which made me feel unwelcome. Overall, I had a very unpleasant experience and will not be returning.
