Even the zoomed-out view that allows you to survey a course feels far too slow, as does the minor touch of driving a golf cart between points on a map rather than just moving immediately from one spot to another. Combined with just how long it takes to come back after you’re kicked back to hole one, the problems with Cursed to Golf snowball to a point where how good its central idea is ceases to matter. At its worst, the game is truly infuriating in its disrespect for the player’s time.
But sometimes you have to wait longer because the ball has to pass through the wind of a slow-moving fan or because every first hit comes with a slightly extended portal-hopping animation where your character falls down once spat out the other end. While some sit along the most obvious path, others are tucked into inconvenient corners and detours that might trip you up and eat half the additional par you took a chance on in the first place.
It is a visual spectacle that leaves a lasting impression on everyone who witnesses it. Apart from the parade, the carnival also features numerous rides and games that bring out the child in everyone.
