There s definitely some Mosaic there, and this just happens to be the third of fourth new beer in a row that I ve had where it stood out in front of everything else but maybe that s just me. the Mosaic remains but it s more complicated than that, although Mosaic is one of the most complicated hops out there in my opinion because it comes across differently so often.

i appreciate the effort here, but i wanted a little more from both of the hazy ones i had from these guys when i was back east. there is a lot to like, the high oat content, the mix of hops, but the beer was really heavy to me, overly hopped in some ways, and tough to drink a whole pint of even at a modest abv, just poorly refined and less fresh than i hoped it would be on the new york side of the lake. dense and creamy pale yellow pour with a high rising white head that leaves pretty lace and hangs around the whole drink. the nose is green to me right away, with coconut, apricot preserves, and meyer lemon notes in the mix as well, a cool fruity complexion with some spruce backing it up, botanical as it warms, and a lot of this comes through in the flavor too, some kiwi fruit and melon, some finishing spiciness and oily dankness, some pine sap, and finally a gin note, all quite appealing but unfortunately inseparable from rather heavy vegetal character than drags this down along with some oxidation suggesting this has been in the can awhile. its not quite yeasty, certainly not in flavor, but it feels almost sloppy in texture, i know the oats add a lot of body but this feels messy even knowing that, and it was too big for the more refined dinner i was enjoying. fun hop profile but it beats me over the head too much, it lingers long, and the lack of freshness hurts it too. i like it being on the dry side, cool for how bold this is overall, but definitely a one and done pint can for me. not the best of the burlington beer stuff for my money, top seller or not. need to source this fresher next time! will update scores when i do and its improved.

BBO is without any doubt the best brewery in Burlington Vermont. This beer points with pine, resin, honey and a special malt who are out of the world.

Notes via stream of consciousness: The labels for Burlington Beer have gotten a little more complicated. That's neither a good thing nor a bad thing, I'm just pointing it out. The beer is a very hazy golden orange in color beneath a short head of rocky off-white foam. In the nose I'm getting soft resins, delicate pine, berries, citrus, apple, and herbs. There's definitely some Mosaic there, and this just happens to be the third of fourth new beer in a row that I've had where it stood out in front of everything else but maybe that's just me. On to the taste then. the Mosaic remains but it's more complicated than that, although Mosaic is one of the most complicated hops out there in my opinion because it comes across differently so often. Anyway, the malt is sweetish, grainy, bready, wheaty, and oaty. I guess bready and wheaty are kind of the same thing but when I can actually taste the wheat I point that out. I'm guessing it's pale ale malt rather than 2-row or Pilsner but it is grassy so I'm not sure; that could be from the hops or it could be from Pilsner malt. There seems to be a little bit of something else there though, perhaps some honey malt? Back to the hops, there's some "hop burn" which helps to balance it, and some pine, resin, and spiciness. There's some nectarine, apricot, melon (not sure what kind, maybe honeydew), citrus pith, and herbs. I was going to say that the herbs were kind of minty but I'm not sure about that. There is a kind of dryness to it like wintergreen but it's also like sage and maybe tarragon. It's nice, and I think I'm making it sound more complicated than it is. It's actually really easy to drink. It finishes dry, maybe minty, lightly piney, and a hint spicy ~ and on occasion I fins what seems almost like vanilla. In the mouth it's smooth with a medium body that's loaded with extra proteins from the wheat and oats, and gently zesty with a fine-bubbled, median to moderate carbonation. All in all it's fairly complicated but somehow very basic as well. The head retention and lacing could have been a little bit better but it wasn't bad.

Reviews for "Myths and Legends: The Creatures That Inhabit Burlington"

1. Lisa - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Burlington Creatures of Magic." The storyline felt disjointed and lacked depth. The characters were one-dimensional and I couldn't connect with any of them. The writing itself was also quite bland and there was a lack of creativity and originality. Overall, the book failed to captivate my interest and I found it underwhelming.
2. Mark - 1/5 stars - "Burlington Creatures of Magic" was a complete waste of time. The plot was predictable and uninspiring. The dialogue was flat and the characters felt like cardboard cutouts. I couldn't find anything redeeming about this book. It felt like a weak attempt to cash in on the popularity of fantasy novels without putting in any effort to create a compelling story. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
3. Sarah - 2/5 stars - I had high hopes for "Burlington Creatures of Magic" but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The pacing was off, with the story dragging in some parts and rushing through important moments in others. The world-building was lacking, leaving many unanswered questions. The author failed to create a believable and engaging fantasy world. Although there were a few interesting ideas, they were never fully explored. Overall, I was disappointed with this book and wouldn't recommend it to fans of the fantasy genre.
