It’s Prerelease weekend for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, and I am excited to pick up sealed product to crack open and see what cool cards I open to put into my Commander decks or build entirely new decks around. There are a whopping four versions of Sauron that you can choose from, but the one that really stands out to me is the face commander from The Hosts of Mordor Commander deck—

Gandalf's wisdom, strength, and compassion contribute to his selection, and he plays a pivotal role in guiding and protecting the Fellowship of the Ring. Another character who undergoes a similar process of initiation into witchcraft is the elf queen Galadriel. Known for her beauty, grace, and immense power, Galadriel possesses the necessary qualities to become a witch. She possesses a ring of power and holds a significant position within the elven community. Galadriel's initiation into witchcraft is symbolized by her receiving the Ring of Adamant, which enhances her magical abilities. Additionally, the hobbits Frodo and Sam are unexpectedly chosen to be part of the Fellowship and embark on a perilous journey to destroy the One Ring. Their simplicity, loyalty, and bravery make them suitable candidates for witchcraft initiation. Despite their small stature and lack of magical abilities, Frodo and Sam prove to be instrumental in the quest and ultimately succeed in their mission. The selection and initiation process in witchcraft in The Lord of the Rings emphasizes the importance of destiny and unique qualities in determining one's role in the magical world. Whether it is the wisdom of Gandalf, the power of Galadriel, or the loyalty of the hobbits, each character chosen for initiation plays a crucial part in the fight against evil and the preservation of Middle-earth. Overall, witchcraft initiation in The Lord of the Rings is characterized by a selective process that considers an individual's qualities and potential. It highlights the significant roles played by characters such as Gandalf, Galadriel, Frodo, and Sam, who contribute to the overarching narrative of the quest to destroy the One Ring. The theme of witchcraft adds depth and intrigue to the fantastical world created by Tolkien, showcasing the importance of magical abilities and destiny in the fight against evil..
