The Role of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Cluedo Strategy

By admin

Witchcraft and wizardry are believed to be ancient practices that involve the manipulation of supernatural forces to achieve magical effects. These practices have been found in various cultures and societies throughout history, often associated with religious or spiritual beliefs. While witchcraft and wizardry are often used interchangeably, they can have different connotations. Witchcraft is commonly associated with women who possess innate powers to communicate with spirits, practice divination, and cast spells. Historically, these women were often persecuted and labeled as witches, as their practices were seen as a threat to established religious and social norms. However, modern interpretations of witchcraft has shifted towards a more positive and empowering stance, emphasizing the connection to nature, healing practices, and personal empowerment.

You don’t need to know the area the event takes place in to play. The game includes a digital map (think Google maps) that shows you where the different points of interest are and which way you need to walk to get to them.

If there are reports of bad weather due on event day, our team will continuously monitor the situation to determine if the event needs to be postponed. If you do want to dress up and you re worried that you ll be the only team walking down the street in costume, don t be, the majority of our players like to dress the part.

What is a CluedUpp event?

Our latest experience, Witchcraft & Wizardry: Murder by Magic, is an outdoor escape room-style murder mystery where you and your team scramble across your city against the clock, hunting for clues to figure out whodunit.

Hundreds of teams take part at each event, dressed in some of the most amazing costumes you will see. Imagine thousands of Witches and Wizards racing around your city streets trying to uncover the truth behind this high profile murder.

The experience unfolds exclusively via our award-winning app, with curious clues and perplexing puzzles delivered straight to your phone when you find each point of interest in the city.

You’ll be racing against the clock to find the culprit and to see if you can be the fastest team to finish. There are loads of prizes up for grabs with categories such as fastest team, best team name, best team photo, and so much more.

How do I play?

A couple of weeks before your booked event you’ll receive your game day instruction email. This will tell you where you need to go to start your adventure and how to set up the app. We’ve also made some very useful instruction videos explaining everything you need to know about using the app and setting up your team. These will also be linked in your email.

Tickets

How many tickets do I need?

1 ticket covers up to 6 adults and under 16’s can play for free. So for example, you can have 6 adults and 4 children all under one ticket. Got 7 or more adults? You’ll need another ticket!

Does my ticket include children?

Under 16’s can play for free, so they do not take up any of the 6 spaces you have on your ticket.

I've booked my event, but where can I find my ticket?

After booking your CluedUpp adventure you’ll receive an order confirmation email which acts as your ticket.

A couple of weeks before your event you’ll receive your game day instruction email which contains a 12 digit code. You’ll need this code to get started on the day of your event.

Sometimes these emails can end up in your junk folder. If you’re worried that you haven’t received either the confirmation or instruction email, please contact [email protected] and one of our friendly customer service team will help you.

Location

The event takes place all around your chosen location, giving you the opportunity to explore city streets like never before. One minute you could be solving challenges in the park and the next you could be darting down a side street following a vital clue.

Where does the event start?

Your start location is a closely guarded secret that will be revealed a couple of weeks before your event. But don’t worry, it will always be in a convenient, safe, and central location.

Why is the start location a secret?

We want you to have the best possible experience, so the exact start location can sometimes change depending on what’s going on locally. Our research team works continuously with local city planners to ensure your event doesn’t clash with other events or planned construction. We wouldn’t want you to start your adventure in the middle of a marathon now, would we?!

Is the location wheelchair/pushchair friendly?

We do our very best to make sure all locations are fully accessible. The game takes place down real city streets, with each team determining their own routes to the different points of interest, so you're in complete control!

Time

What time does my adventure start?

You can start your adventure any time between 9am and 2pm. This may change to 8am in rare circumstances, but if it does we’ll let you know.

How long does it take to complete?

It typically takes around 2-3 hours, but this does all depend on how competitively your team play and if you stop to have some lunch.

How far will I be walking?

You should expect to walk about 3-5km on the day but again, this depends on the routes you take to get to each clue or character on the map.

Can I start later than 2pm?

You can start later than 2pm, but if you want to enter any of the competitions, you’ll need to have finished the game by 5pm. This is when we’ll announce the winners on the Facebook event page linked in your game day instruction email.

Costumes

Do CluedUpp provide costumes?

We do not provide costumes for you to wear on the day of the event. It would be very difficult to supply around 4000 teams every weekend with amazing costumes, and if we’re honest, many participants make better costumes than we could ever buy!

Do I have to dress up?

You don’t have to dress up if you don’t want to, but it is all part of the fun. If you do want to dress up and you’re worried that you’ll be the only team walking down the street in costume, don’t be, the majority of our players like to dress the part! If you don’t believe us, just check out our Instagram page @clued_upp.

Do CluedUpp have any tips for taking part?

Yes! Here are our top tips for taking part in a CluedUpp event:

  • Make sure your phone is fully charged. If your phone battery is a bit unreliable, bring a battery pack with you.

1. Sarah - 2 stars - I was really excited to play Witchcraft and Wizardry Cluedoopp as I am a huge fan of both Harry Potter and Clue. However, I was sorely disappointed. The game lacked the magical charm and intricate mystery that I expected. The gameplay felt clunky and the rules were confusing, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the experience. Overall, I found it to be a lackluster and unenjoyable game.
2. Mark - 1 star - As a fan of Clue, I was excited to try the Witchcraft and Wizardry Cluedoopp version. Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The integration of magic and wizardry felt forced and did not add any depth or excitement to the game. The characters and locations were poorly developed, and the clues provided were uninteresting and predictable. I found myself bored and unengaged throughout the entire gameplay. I would not recommend this version to any Clue or Harry Potter fan.
3. Emily - 2 stars - I was really looking forward to playing Witchcraft and Wizardry Cluedoopp, but it was a major letdown. The game lacked creativity and failed to capture the essence of both Harry Potter and Clue. The magical elements felt tacked on and did not enhance the gameplay in any way. The puzzles and clues were uninspired and I quickly lost interest. Overall, I was left feeling disappointed and regretful for purchasing this version of Clue.
