I had tried creating a house in the proper Jungle, both above and below ground. The game didn't seem to think any of my attempts to create a house were suitable however. There's a number of reasons why this might be happening. I suggest taking what you have currently and replicating it somewhere else as best as possible. Also note that natural walls are unsuitable for housing, and you need at least one light source. Furnaces and forges do not count as light sources.
