Sometimes I wish that Koji Shiraishi would‘ve continued making movies as chilling and layered as Noroi or Occult. But I get the sense that he has a whole lot of fun making the movies he wants to make now, and that’s totally fine. Welcome to the Occult Forest falls back on tropes that Shiraishi is now a bit infamous for: Cheap digital eldritch worm nightmares, an over the top anime-esque psychic character, and literally self-inserting himself into his work. Like his film Cult, I very quickly found myself a little bored and uninvested towards much of this series. However, I think the final two episodes really kicks it up a notch and saved the project for me. The cult in the abandoned school…

The forest demands both respect and reverence, for its secrets are not easily bestowed upon those who do not appreciate its ancient wisdom. Welcome, brave souls, to the Occult Forest. Let its allure and enigma envelop you, as you embark on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. Reviews for "Examining the Role of Nature Spirits in the Occult Forest"

1. Jennifer - 2 stars
I found "Welcome to the Occult Forest" to be quite disappointing. The storyline was weak and unoriginal, with predictable twists and turns that left me feeling bored rather than intrigued. The characters lacked depth, and I struggled to connect with any of them. The writing style was also lackluster, with awkward dialogue and an excessive amount of exposition. Overall, this book just didn't live up to the hype for me, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating and unique occult tale.
2. Alex - 1 star
"Welcome to the Occult Forest" was an absolute letdown. The concept had so much potential, but it was executed poorly. The pacing was all over the place, with moments of intense action followed by tedious descriptions that added nothing to the plot. The main character was bland and uninteresting, and the supporting cast felt like mere caricatures. Additionally, the supernatural elements lacked depth and explanation, leaving me confused and unsatisfied. I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, it fell flat in every aspect.
3. Sarah - 2.5 stars
I was highly disappointed by "Welcome to the Occult Forest." The plot took too long to develop, and when it finally did, it felt rushed and poorly constructed. The writing style was lackluster, with clunky dialogue and repetitive descriptions. The characters were one-dimensional, and their actions often felt forced and disconnected from their established personalities. I struggled to stay engaged with the story and found myself skimming through large chunks of the book. Overall, I can't say that I enjoyed this read, and I wouldn't recommend it to others seeking a well-crafted occult-themed novel.
