A protection sigil is a symbol or design used in pagan traditions to ward off negative energies and provide a shield of protection. These sigils are often created through a combination of specific shapes, symbols, and intentions. Paganism is a diverse spiritual path that encompasses various beliefs and practices, many of which have been handed down through generations. Pagan traditions often emphasize the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of maintaining harmony and balance within oneself and the world around them. In this context, protection sigils can be seen as a means of maintaining this equilibrium by shielding oneself from harmful energies and influences. The creation of a protection sigil typically involves a ritualistic process.

We’re not Magic players and this was a decidedly extremely casual event, so I think there was going to be some joking and card spoilering anyway, but the interactions created by the Conspiracy set made that so much better. The one criticism we had was that some of the cards specifically gained power as they went undrafted, so they almost required someone to “hate-draft” them so that one of the people going for that color didn’t get a massively overpowered card later in the draft. I didn’t mind it, but it rubbed some of the group the wrong way.

It was great, because not only did it break up the head-down, quiet nature of a draft, but it also played into another meta-aspect of drafting guessing which colors your neighbors are going for. Between packs, there is a period for review of the cards you ve picked, which is 30 seconds after the first pack, 45 after the second, and 60 after the third.

The creation of a protection sigil typically involves a ritualistic process. This can include meditation, visualization, or drawing, depending on the individual's personal practice. The intention behind the sigil is essential, as it sets the purpose and energy of the symbol.

But a Prerelease isn't just about what you get, it's about the experience! To participate in something many look forward to every set release, head over to your WPN-affiliated local game store, pick up a Prerelease Pack after entering, and then build a deck for a few rounds of games. Most stores will offer events in a traditional tournament structure with prizes that scale based on performance, but typically these are pretty light on prizes and offer incentive simply for playing all of your rounds (but check with your local store on any specifics related to entry and prizes). Some retailers may also offer a more streamlined build-and-play option, where you build a deck, play, and simply enjoy playing with some new Magic cards, so check with your local stores for all the details.

Not sure about jumping into Sealed with a Prelease Pack for in-store play? That's fine, too. WPN retailers also offer Prerelease Packs for players who want to build and play out of the comfort of their own home or with some buddies outside of the store. March of the Machine Jumpstart Boosters also provide an alternative way to engage with Prerelease. All you need are two Jumpstart Boosters, then open them, shuffle up, and you're ready to play!

Players who do play in an event at their local store may also be able to get some special 30th anniversary promo cards, made available during Prerelease. March of the Machine features the following:

    Chord of Calling (Portuguese)

    Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind

Please note that the Chord of Calling promo is only available in Brazilian Portuguese for WPN stores worldwide. All other cards are English globally. Chord of Calling is also a rarer 30th anniversary promo, so limited quantities will be available at all WPN retailers. For distribution methods on this rarer 30th anniversary promo, check with your WPN retailer for more information.

And in case you haven't been to a Prerelease recently . . . or perhaps ever . . . Prereleases at WPN retailers are also your first opportunity to get any March of the Machine products, be they Set Boosters, Collector Boosters, Commander decks—take your pick—before the official release date. That's right! All WPN retailers can sell the new offerings ahead of the official global release, so there's never been a better time to check out your local game store for a Prerelease celebration!

It is believed that by embedding one's intention into the sigil, it becomes an active representation and amplifier of the desired protective energies. Once created, a protection sigil can be used in various ways. Some practitioners choose to draw the sigil on their skin, clothing, or personal items as a physical representation of protection. Others may inscribe it on talismans or amulets and carry them as a portable form of spiritual armor. Additionally, sigils can be incorporated into rituals, spells, or visualizations to enhance the energetic protection present during these practices. It is important to note that protection sigils should not be seen as a replacement for personal responsibility or practical safety measures. While they can provide a sense of security and assist in warding off negative energies, individuals should still take necessary precautions to protect themselves physically and emotionally. Overall, protection sigils are a valuable tool for pagans seeking to fortify their spiritual and energetic well-being. These symbols offer a sense of empowerment and aid in creating a sacred space of safety and protection. Through their use, practitioners can enhance their connection to the divine and navigate their spiritual path with greater confidence and strength..
