Replacing the Waste Ball Seal in Thetford Aqua Magic IV Toilets: A DIY Guide

By admin

The Thetford Aqua Magic IV is a popular toilet system used in RVs and boats. As with any mechanical system, it may require repair or maintenance from time to time. Fortunately, Thetford provides a repair manual for the Aqua Magic IV toilet system to assist owners in troubleshooting and resolving issues. This manual is a comprehensive guide that outlines the various components of the toilet, common problems that may arise, and the steps to take when repairing or replacing these components. The repair manual begins by providing an overview of the Aqua Magic IV toilet system, explaining its design, operation, and available features. It then delves into the troubleshooting section, which lists common issues such as a non-flushing toilet, leakage, or problems with water filling or draining properly.

My 1999 25C Six-sleeper has the original low profile Thetford Aqua Magic IV that won't hold water at the blade valve seal. I have never liked this plastic toilet, so looking to replace it anyway, rather than repair. Has anyone ever replaced one of these with a Thetford china bowl toilet? If so, which one?

I need to stick with low profile and am looking at the Thetford Magic Style Plus. I am open to all thoughts and ideas. the A/S comes out of winter storage on Saturday.

One of the main issues with replacing the plastic toilets with ceramic bowl toilets is the distance between the center of the hole and the back of the toilet. On the one you mentioned the distance is 11" vs 7 5/8" for the plastic model. On my 25fb I don't have the space for 11". So if you have about 3 1/2" to spare between your current toilet then you should be able to upgrade.

JC, did you ever replace the Thetford Aqua Magic IV? I want to replace mine with a ceramic toilet and was wondering if you have any advice (I have a Sunline Solaris, actually, but found your post just thru Google). I was worried about the comment Kelvin made about the different sizes of the toilets on the interior. What did you finally choose? Thanks! Aariel

Thanks for the reply. I thought you might be interested in a message I received from Thetford the other day . [btw, the "middle of the flange" means where the bolts are, she clarified for me later]. Here it is:

The replacement toilet that I would recommend would be the Style II. The bolt pattern of the two toilets would be the same the only problem is that the Aqua-Magic Style II is 9-1/2" from the middle to the back of the toilet, where the Aqua-Magic IV is only 7-1/4". You will need to make sure that you have enough space between the middle of the flange and the wall. If you do not have the space, the upgrade would be an Aqua-Magic V but that one does not come with the ceramic bowl.

If you have additional questions, please contact us.

Thank you,

Reviews for "How to Fix a Noisy Thetford Aqua Magic IV Toilet Pump"

1. John - 1 star - The Thetford Aqua Magic IV repair manual was a complete waste of money. It provided vague instructions that were difficult to understand, and even after following them step by step, I was unable to fix the issue I was having with my toilet. The illustrations in the manual were also of very poor quality, making it even more frustrating to try and figure out what I was supposed to do. I ended up having to call a professional to come and fix the problem, which cost me even more money. I do not recommend this manual to anyone in need of toilet repairs.
2. Sarah - 2 stars - I was disappointed with the Thetford Aqua Magic IV repair manual. While it did provide some basic information on how to repair common issues with the toilet, it lacked detail and didn't cover all possible scenarios. I encountered a problem that wasn't addressed in the manual, and I had to search online for additional guidance. I feel like a comprehensive manual should cover all possible issues and provide clear and detailed instructions on how to fix them. Unfortunately, this manual fell short and left me frustrated and unsatisfied.
3. Mark - 2 stars - The Thetford Aqua Magic IV repair manual was not helpful at all. The instructions were confusing and difficult to follow, and I was not able to successfully repair my toilet using the manual alone. The illustrations could have been more detailed and clearer, as they were not very helpful in guiding me through the repair process. Overall, I was disappointed with the manual and would not recommend it to others who are looking to fix their Thetford Aqua Magic IV toilet.
