Nadia loves fun facts. Here are a few about her:

• She collects bobbleheads -- she has 77 so far.

• She moved from Egypt to America when she was six years old.

• The hippo amulet she wears is ancient. as in it's literally from ancient Egypt.

• She's going to win the contest to design a new exhibit at the local museum. Because how cool would that be?!

(Okay, so that last one isn't a fact just yet, but Nadia has plans to make it one.)

But then a new kid shows up and teases Nadia about her Egyptian heritage. It's totally unexpected, and totally throws her off her game.

And something else happens that Nadia can't explain: Her amulet starts glowing! She soon discovers that the hippo is holding a hilarious -- and helpful -- secret. Can she use it to confront the new kid and win the contest?

I really wanted to love "The Magical Realism of Nadua" but I found it incredibly confusing and hard to follow. The author jumped between different timelines and perspectives without any clear indication, making it difficult for me to understand what was happening. The characters felt underdeveloped and I couldn't connect with any of them. Overall, I felt lost throughout the whole book and was left with more questions than answers.
2. James - 1 star
"The Magical Realism of Nadua" was a complete disappointment for me. The premise sounded really intriguing, but the execution fell flat. The writing style was overly descriptive and flowery, which made it hard for me to stay engaged. Additionally, I found the plot to be lacking depth and the magical elements did not add anything meaningful to the story. The ending also felt rushed and unsatisfying. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
3. Laura - 2 stars
I had high hopes for "The Magical Realism of Nadua" but it didn't live up to my expectations. While the concept of blending reality and magic was interesting, I felt that the author overused magical elements to the point where it felt forced and unnecessary. The pacing was slow and there were several instances where the story dragged on without any significant developments. I also found the dialogue to be quite awkward and unrealistic. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and wouldn't recommend this book.
