Came for the title, stayed for the fact that every single actor looks like a Walmart brand version of an actually famous actor. Fascinating.

I keep happening on these found footage movies because they have interesting-sounding premises. Of course, I hate that format, but fortunately, I kinda loved this movie. It only loses points for not sufficiently and rationally explaining all of the footage that it shows. Well, and for purporting to be true but just being a bunch of made-up bunk, since there aren't any Amish witches. But the contrived fiction of the film is still fascinating. It concerns a family of young Amish women who start experiencing paranormal phenomena when their grandmother, who was shunned from the community for being a "witch" (really a healer and herbalist), is denied a Christian burial. There's a camera crew on-hand, naturally, who had been there…

I am not from Ohio. But I am from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and nothing about this feels authentic.

amish paranormal activity hosted by generic aubrey plaza. so confusing i was so lost the whole time. obsessed.

Honestly the only reason I watched it was because I thought it was a documentary at first. A very silly movie, but not a total loss because it did make me laugh.

In this interesting drama, three sequences which could have formed separate stories are linked together, like cars on a train, to give a larger perspective on the nature of reality and film. The three episodes are joined together by one film crew at work on two different jobs. In the beginning, the crew is introduced as they juggle their dual roles as State-supported propagandists who laud their government and society, and as private movie makers working on their own film. Next, they are in a restaurant looking for suitable locations to film when the eatery’s owner, through no fault of his own, is induced to wax long and lugubriously on his miserable life. In the last segment, two extras are in the background of a scene, sitting at a table in a restaurant. It slowly becomes apparent to one of them that the man he’s sitting with tortured him more than 40 years ago at a Nazi concentration camp during World War II.

A native of Sennwald, Anna Göldi arrived in Glarus in 1765. For seventeen years, she worked as a maidservant for Johann Jakob Tschudi, a physician. Tschudi reported her for having put needles in the bread and milk of one of his daughters, apparently through supernatural means. The Tempest, based on the play of the same name by William Shakespeare, is written and directed by Julie Taymor. She is "more overtly wronged" than Prospero; when the duke is killed, his brother Antonio (played by Chris Cooper) accuses her of killing him with witchcraft.
