What educators are saying

This was a great resource to supplement an APUSH lesson on the Salem Witch Trials. I particularly liked the "eulogy" assignment at the end as it required students to analyze both primary and secondary sources to write about a victim of their choosing.

Reviews for "Untangling the Web: A Documentary on the Salem Witch Trials"

1. Jenny - 1 star - I was really excited to watch the Salem Witch Documentary, as I have always been fascinated by history and witchcraft. However, I was thoroughly disappointed with this film. The documentary lacked depth and failed to provide any new or interesting insights into the Salem witch trials. The narration was monotonous and the pacing was extremely slow, making it difficult to stay focused. Overall, I found it to be a dull and uninspiring film that did not live up to my expectations.
2. Mark - 2 stars - As a history enthusiast, I was hoping that the Salem Witch Documentary would be a captivating exploration of one of the darkest chapters in American history. Unfortunately, this film fell flat. The content felt repetitive and didn't offer any new or alternative perspectives on the events that occurred during the witch trials. Additionally, the dramatization scenes were poorly executed and seemed out of place. While I appreciate the effort to shed light on this historical event, I was left feeling unsatisfied and unengaged by the documentary.
3. Rebecca - 1 star - I found the Salem Witch Documentary to be highly misleading and lacking in accuracy. The film seemed more focused on delivering dramatized visuals and sensationalizing the witch trials rather than providing an objective and factual account of what actually happened. The interviews with experts and historians felt shallow and superficial, failing to delve into the complexities of the events. Overall, this documentary failed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Salem witch trials and left me feeling frustrated and misinformed.
4. Andrew - 2 stars - I was hoping that the Salem Witch Documentary would provide a balanced examination of the Salem witch trials, exploring both the historical and social context of the time. However, I was disappointed to find that the documentary heavily relied on fictional reenactments and speculative theories rather than presenting solid research and analysis. The lack of scholarly input and the focus on sensationalism reduced the documentary's credibility and made it difficult to take it seriously. While it may be entertaining for some, I was left wanting a more rigorous and informative examination of this fascinating period in American history.
