Rainbow Magic: Return to Rainspell Island is a children's book based on the popular Rainbow Magic series written by Daisy Meadows. The book follows the adventures of best friends Rachel and Kirsty as they return to Rainspell Island to help rescue the island's magical creatures from a spell that has trapped them. The fact this is as well animated as it is and yet likely has a quarter of the budget of most other anime on the market right now is both hilarious while also an example of the troubling state of the industry right now. On a more serious note though, I actually really, really liked this a lot. It's clear that the entire team put their all into what was very clearly designed to be a bargain bin, direct to video affair, and those kinds of efforts are my absolute favourite.
