Creating a Magical Fairy Garden with Purple Magic Crape Myrtle Trees

By admin

The Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree, also known by its scientific name Lagerstroemia indica 'Purple Magic', is a stunning flowering tree that adds beauty and color to any landscape. This deciduous tree is native to China, Japan, and Korea and is widely cultivated for its showy flowers and attractive bark. The Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree features deep purple flowers that bloom in dense clusters during the summer months. These vibrant flowers contrast beautifully against the tree's dark green foliage, creating a captivating display of color. The flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, making this tree a popular choice for gardeners who want to attract wildlife to their yards. Aside from its colorful blooms, the Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree also boasts attractive peeling bark that adds an interesting texture to the tree.

Gourd-geous (orange and black matte glitter in mixed sizes in a sheer orange base) hadn't gotten its time yet, so I did two coats of it on my index finger for my next hand of skittles swatched. I put a black creme base on my other digits and topped that with Ghosted on my middle finger, Squad Ghouls on my ring, and Witch Please on my pinky.

Squad Ghouls shines over black, looking like a night sky, with the speckles from the glow in the dark base making a sort of Milky Way effect behind the glitter. Aside from its colorful blooms, the Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree also boasts attractive peeling bark that adds an interesting texture to the tree. The bark starts out as a smooth grayish-brown and gradually peels away in thin strips, revealing a new layer of cinnamon-colored bark underneath. This unique bark adds visual interest to the tree even when it is not in bloom.

Wicked Witch Manicure

I was brainstorming fun ideas for a Halloween inspired manicure when my friend Kelly posted about yellow nails. Yellow nail polish? HOW had this never occurred to me? It’s so fun and fresh and unexpected. I love the idea of wearing it on its own as an homage to the season, but it’s also the perfect backdrop to incorporate into something a little more special.

I initially thought I might like a jack-o-lantern set of nails, but it didn’t seem quite right. So I scanned some of my favorite costumes from the past. Present nails? (Yup, I was a present one year when I was about eight, complete with a crepe paper bow hat.) Cleopatra nails? (Not obvious enough.) ELPHABA NAILS?

For this manicure, you’ll need:

– yellow nail polish (Mine is Sally Hansen’s Mellow Yellow. Was mostly ok, but not completely opaque.)

– green nail polish (Mine is Zoya’s Neely.)

– cotton swabs/nail polish remover (in case you need to take care of any mistakes)

Start with some clean nails and polish with a few coats of yellow, to your desired opacity.

Once dry, use your black nail art pen to draw on your witches hat (a triangle with a horizontal line across the bottom) onto the nails you wish to accent, like so:

Let dry for just a minute or two. Then, add a dot of green polish just below to create the witch’s face.

Repeat for as many nails as you like (I added a mini witch to my thumb, middle finger and pinky.) You may wish to go over the top of your witch’s face (green dot) with a quick swipe of black for a more realistic hat-wearing look.

Let dry for a few minutes and you’re ready to go! (If you’re looking for the mani to last at least a few days, swipe your favorite top coat on top.)

When I look at my hand right side up, the design almost has an art deco feel and I love it. It’s extra fun when someone asks me what the design is and I get to let them in on the secret of the tiny witches!

(Writing this post makes me want to be Elphaba again. Without the crazy amount of time involved with putting on that darn green makeup. Anyone offer one minute green spray tans?)

Let dry for a few minutes and you’re ready to go! (If you’re looking for the mani to last at least a few days, swipe your favorite top coat on top.)

Reviews for "Understanding the Different Types of Purple Magic Crape Myrtle Trees"

1. John - 2/5 - I recently planted a Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree in my backyard and I have been quite disappointed with it. Not only did it take much longer than expected for the tree to bloom, but when it finally did, the flowers were underwhelming. The purple color was not as vibrant as I had hoped and the overall appearance of the tree was rather lackluster. Additionally, the tree requires a lot of maintenance and upkeep to keep it healthy, which is something I was not prepared for. Overall, I would not recommend the Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree as there are better alternatives available.
2. Emily - 1/5 - I have had nothing but problems with my Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree. The tree did not survive the first winter and I had to replant it. Even after replanting, the tree has struggled to grow properly and has a very weak structure. The branches are thin and often break easily. The leaves also have a tendency to turn yellow and fall off prematurely. I have reached out to the seller for guidance and support, but their customer service has been incredibly unhelpful. I would not recommend the Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree to anyone.
3. Karen - 3/5 - While the Purple Magic Crape Myrtle tree does have beautiful flowers when it blooms, I have found that it requires a lot of maintenance to keep it looking good. The tree is prone to pests and diseases, which can be frustrating to deal with. Additionally, the tree requires regular pruning to maintain its shape and size, which can be time-consuming. Overall, I think there are better options out there for those looking for a low-maintenance tree with beautiful blooms.
