Organizing Your Magical Odds and Ends Drawer: Tips and Tricks

By admin

In every household, there is a drawer. A drawer that contains odds and ends, items that don't quite fit into any other category but are too valuable to dispose of. This is the magical odds and ends drawer. It may seem ordinary at first glance, but upon closer examination, you'll find a mishmash collection of items that hold a special kind of magic. It's a place where lost and forgotten things find a home, where broken items are given a second chance, and where unfinished projects await completion. **The magical odds and ends drawer is a treasure trove of possibilities.

As for now, I made 52 sets and they will be available soon, directly from me. I might make some more, who knows. But before that, I would love to share this packet trick with a few Café members.

If you d like to have a pre-release sneak peek I will provide you with a link to the PDF instructions, illustrated by Tony Dunn and write a thing or two about it good or bad here, then please PM me. It s basically contact paper printed to look like wood, and after buying 5 different brands to compare, we all agreed Yifely Dark Coffee was the winner.

**The magical odds and ends drawer is a treasure trove of possibilities.** It is a place where you can find a single missing earring or that elusive button that completes your favorite shirt. It holds spare screws and nails, always ready to help mend a broken piece of furniture or hang a cherished photograph.

Misdeal is probably my most "commercial" trick that you can carry in your wallet. It has an intriguing, somewhat offbeat premise, a couple of strong, magic moments, and a satisfying ending.

"Michal's new packet trick is a hybrid poker-deal/printing effect and is the kind of trick laymen love. Emerson and West would have sold thousands of these!" -- Mark Elsdon

"Michal has combined a few classic principles into one awesome routine packed with magical moments. Excellent stuff!" -- Harapan Ong

"Misdeal is a short, sweet routine with a diabolical method and a pleasing presentation." -- Joshua Jay

"Michal Kociolek has created a fantastic kicker to what appears to be a simple poker routine." -- Bob Farmer

Michal sent me the pdf and I quickly made it up with cards I had around. I loved his Polish Poker effect so I jumped on this. Misdeal is a fun magical take on the ten-card poker deal. I really like it! It's simple to do, has great presentation opportunities, and really packs a magical punch at the end. With not much work you can even end clean. Passed the wife test! She loves magic, and isn't at all concerned with figuring things out. just loves good presentations and the "amazement factor." I will definitely carry this and work it into one of my close-up poker-themed sets.

I also received a review copy. It is a fresh approach to a poker-themed effect that appeals to me - it involves a 10-card poker deal effect, a sucker effect, and a card change effect blended together in an interesting way.

It has many surprise moments as cards magically change using a combination of relatively simple sleights and gaffs.
The spectator will feel like they’ve had a free choice of their cards as justified by the head-to-head theme. There’s a lot of mileage for a packet trick.

There are soooo many commercial tricks you can carry in your wallet.
Why EXACTLY would this be your most commercial?

Anyone who's familiar with my work knows that I have a soft spot for mathematical principles, faro shuffles etc. I don't shy away from the weird and quirky.

Misdeal, however, is a bit different. In my opinion, it has the elements of a strong, commercial trick.

I think Mike is saying that this is the most commercial trick that *he* has put out. It requires a table as written, but I think with some audience management you could get spectators to hold cards for you where needed.

In many head-to-head poker routines, you deal out cards two at a time, let the spectator choose one, then drop the packet on the other one. That always seemed weird to me. Why wouldn't they choose one for them and the other for you? Michal gets around this with a casual procedure that seems super fair.

Jumping off from the "fair" selection, there are a number of fair displays that make the subsequent changes completely baffling. You end mostly clean and should be able to clean up completely if you have any experience as a card magician. But this is not hard -- it's an advanced beginner level effect.

I made up a set from the preview PDF Mike kindly sent me (I had the necessary cards lying around) and have gotten strong reactions. If you like 10-card or head-to-head poker deals or if you like card printing effects, then you will love this.

Thank you Mike for sending me a copy.

Agreed with what other said about this trick. As long as you have the right cards and you are able to do some simple sleights, you are ready to perform. This is not a "Haha, I win and you lose" trick. Spectator will look at you as a magician, instead of a poker card player, after the performance.

Mike did a really good job in crediting people who inspired him to come up with this trick. Well done, Mike!!

It's a fun poker-themed magic trick.

I also got the pdf and made the set required. I really liked it, it is smart and fun, and not very difficult to do! Gives room to presentation and after a little practice it can look very magical.
Good work!

So I got my hands on Misdeal by Michael Kociolek

the pdf gives you everything you need to construct your own cards, but if you do not want to struggle, I would suggest you buy a set from Mike.

Anyway, if you are a fan of 10 card poker routines, this one is stellar.

Its easy to do, and allows you to focus on your presentation.

You get an 18 page pdf with instructions as well as illustrations on how to carry out the routine, structure, and moves.

I don't do much Poker routines, but I am going to make up the necessary cards, and have this on me, since its a fooling trick.

Congrats Mike on a great release

Thank you, Alex! I really appreciate it.

This is definitely more of a magic trick with a Poker flavor, and there's no need for the spectators to know any Poker rules.

Reviews for "Unlocking Memories: The Sentimental Secrets of Your Odds and Ends Drawer"

1. Sarah - 2 stars - I was really excited to read "Magical odds and ends drawer" because I'm a fan of fantasy books, but I was really disappointed with it. The plot was all over the place and didn't make much sense. The characters were also very flat and one-dimensional. I couldn't connect with any of them and didn't care what happened to them. Overall, the book just didn't live up to my expectations and I wouldn't recommend it.
2. John - 1 star - I couldn't even finish "Magical odds and ends drawer" because it was just so boring. The pacing was incredibly slow and nothing interesting ever seemed to happen. I kept hoping the story would pick up, but it never did. The writing style was also very dull, with little description or creativity. This book was a major letdown and I wouldn't waste my time reading it.
3. Mary - 2 stars - I found "Magical odds and ends drawer" to be extremely cliché and unoriginal. The entire plot felt like a recycled version of other fantasy books I've read before. The magical elements were predictable and the twists were all too easy to see coming. The dialogue was also quite cheesy and unrealistic. I was hoping for something fresh and exciting, but this book just didn't deliver. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a more unique and imaginative fantasy read.
