Magical Drop 2 has become my go to ACA title
I'll preface by saying that I am a puzzle game fan, not to the extent where im god like in Tetris, but I dabble (so far on Switch Puyo Puyo is my jam and Soldam is ultra solid as well and worth a jpn eshop account itself).
But Magical Drop 2 is a game I knew nothing about prior but saw it's similarities to Bust A Move and got pumped and dropped the $8 on it without a second thought.
I guess I should also say, embarassingly, 505's Adventure Pop is really what sparked my interest in the bust a move likes (and totally worth a download if you have an Xbone -- the game is free.)
So with that rambling behind me, Magical Drop 2's premise is simple: Bust a move without the angled shots (your jester character only throws the balls upwards) with the ability to have complete control of combos while also being able to correct your own mistakes.

That being said, Story mode is weird and has scantly clad anime enemies you progress through a la the Neo Geo fighting games.
As far as multiplayer goes, I've had a few matches and unfortunately it sucks this is only local. But the local matches I have had were frantic and fun, and the game is balanced that after a few matches your unskilled friends will feel like matches last long enough that even if they don't win, they at least had a leg to stand on.
I know that Switch has a lot of puzzle games out across regions but this one truly does stand out.
I know a typical posting asks for ACA recommendations, and I haven't scratched the surface of the Neo Geo series but I can wholeheartedly stand behind the following;
Magical Drop 2, Mark of the Wolves, Waku Waku 7 and Metal Slug 2 (it's like the weirdest of weird paranormal out of nowhere sequels I've ever experienced).

I was really disappointed with the magic squishy balls. They were not at all what I expected. First of all, the texture was really weird and not enjoyable to play with. It's definitely not worth the money or the hassle. Find a better squishy toy alternative.
