When you get a product with a name like “Magic Concealer”, you kinda have to buy it. Or at least, that’s what I thought when I chanced upon this product in Don Quixote. And with the number of awards that it has won (#1 on Rakuten, #1 on iVoCE, etc.) I was sold. The packaging also does a pretty darn good job at catching attention. So how does this concealer fare? Here are my thoughts:
The Good
This concealer is so so so creamy. As they always say, a little goes a long way, and that’s definitely the case for this concealer. Placed on my dark circles, this product did not crease the entire day, which was really impressive.
Furthermore, the pigmentation of this concealer is pretty darn stellar. It can cover spots, dark circles, uneven skintone, you name it. I’ve never tried the It Cosmetics Amazing Concealer, but I reckon this comes close.
The colour of this concealer is slightly lighter than my skintone, but when blended out well, doesn’t look too obvious. That said, I don’t think this concealer would be the best for strobing or any hardcore contouring.
The doe foot applicator on this concealer makes application really simple. But here’s a tip: scrape off the excess concealer from the wand before applying it to your skin. Trust me, you really only need a little.
And of course, the price. This concealer cost me around 1,800 yen (I think), which is about $22 SGD, which is an incredible price for a good concealer, especially when you think of how expensive high-end concealers can get. Not the cheapest concealer around, I give you that, but definitely worth its weight in gold.
The Bad
I have oily skin, and it comes as no surprise that this concealer slips around a bit if I don’t set it. Even if I do set it, on places where I oil up really quickly (eg. my nose), this can still move around slightly. So set set set set with powder and hope for the best.
Also, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this in Singapore, so it might not be available in stores. But you can get it online on Rakuten if you would want to try this out.
Conclusion
So happy that I bought this concealer. Moral of the story: cosmetic products that have awards = BUY. Great concealer, great price.
