The Power of Coldplay Covers: Understanding Their Impact on Fans

By admin

I recently came across a magical Coldplay cover that completely captivated me. It was a remarkable performance that breathed new life into one of my favorite songs by the band. The performer managed to infuse their own unique style and talent into the rendition, creating a truly mesmerizing experience. From the very beginning of the cover, I was struck by the singer's exceptional vocals. Their voice had a haunting quality that added depth and emotion to the music. It felt as though they were able to effortlessly convey the raw emotions of the lyrics, drawing me into the song's narrative.

Kelly Clarkson Adds Her Own ‘Magic’ to Coldplay Cover for Kellyoke

Kelly Clarkson closed out a week of performances on The Kelly Clarkson Show with a dazzling rendition of “Magic” by Coldplay. The song first appeared on the band’s album Ghost Stories, released in 2014. Joined by her band Y’all, Clarkson added a soulful simmer to the record during the performance.

Earlier this week, Clarkson delivered new renditions of songs like “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens and “Faithfully” by Journey featuring Jude Keyz. She also broke her streak of performing only covers with a special debut live performance of her latest single, “Mine,” which will appear on her forthcoming album Chemistry.

Set for release on June 23, Chemistry marks Clarkson’s first original body of work in six years. Last year, she released the 6-track Kellyoke EP that featured some of her greatest covers, from taking on Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever” and The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name” to Whitney Houston’s “Queen of the Night” and Linda Ronstadt’s “Blue Bayou.”

“Many fans have been asking me for years about a new project, and I’ve been working on a new album. It’s just taken a minute,” Clarkson told her audience earlier this week. “That song that I just did is actually one of the first singles being released from the record.”

She added: “It’s called ‘Mine’ and we don’t really need to explain it because, you know, the lyrics, they’re pretty self-evident. But I was feeling all the feelings when I wrote that one. Anyway, it’s one of those songs, though, that I really wanted to release as one of the first singles to go out because I just love that I’ve never really done anything like that on a chorus, never changed tempo in a song. It was just a different vibe for me overall. I was very excited about it — but obviously, it’s also just very angry and sad. But I let it out and I feel great now.”

The performance started out with some sliding, relaxing guitar notes. "Call it magic, call it true, I call it magic when I'm with you," Clarkson crooned softly into the microphone. "And I just got broken, broken into two, still I call it magic, when I'm next to you," she continued.

For the chorus, the drummer kicked it up a notch, yet the sound remained dreamy and atmospheric. "And I don't, and I don't, and I don't, and I don't, no, I don't, it's true, I don't, no, I don't, no, I don't, no, I don't, want anybody else but you," Clarkson sang in a gorgeously balanced tone.

But what would a Kellyoke be without some massively impressive belting notes? "Wanna fall, fall so far I wanna fall, fall so hard, and I call it magic," she sang her heart out, quickly flipping back and forth between some powerful notes and heavenly gentle vibrato.

"And if you were to ask me, after all that we've been through, still believe in magic?, Oh yes, I do," she sang the outro with her eyes closed, fully immersing herself in the music.

While Clarkson's covers are top-notch, we're happy to hear that she has new music released as well. She debuted two show-stopping singles titled "mine" and "me" last week, and recently performed "mine" on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Both amazing tunes will be on Clarkson's upcoming album titled Chemistry. Clarkson recently explained the inspiration behind the project's title.

It felt as though they were able to effortlessly convey the raw emotions of the lyrics, drawing me into the song's narrative. One of the most impressive aspects of the cover was the instrumental arrangement. The performer skillfully incorporated different instruments, creating a rich and complex soundscape.

Kelly Clarkson Just Released 2 New Songs—And the Lyrics Are So Emotional

"It's called Chemistry because I was trying to find a word—also, it might be one of the songs on the album—but I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing," Clarkson said. "Because I didn't want everyone to think I was just coming out with some, 'I'm angry, I'm sad' [album], just one or two emotions. This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship. A whole relationship shouldn't be just brought down to one thing. So there's the good, the bad, and the ugly kinda thing going on. Chemistry can be a really amazing sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be very bad for you. So that's why I named it Chemistry. I thought it was the perfect title to describe the entire album."

Take Clarkson’s s simmering version of Coldplay‘s “Magic,” which she performed on Friday’s (April 21) Kelly Clarkson Show. The already pretty mellow original — which appeared on the band’s 2014 Ghost Stories album — bops along at a medium pace, fueled by singer Chris Martin’s keening “ooh-ooh-ooh” vocalizations, a spare, muffled snare beat and spacey guitars.

Clarkson’s version borrowed the same hypnotic bass strum and spare beat, but amped up the heartache with her signature yearning vocals and flawless runs. “And if you were to ask me/ After all we’ve been through/ ‘Still believe in magic?’ Oh yes, I do,” she sang in her higher register, repeating the last line for devastating emotional emphasis.

The three-time Grammy winner confirmed last week that her anticipated post-divorce record, the 14-track Chemistry, is due out on June 23 and will be split into two sides, “Mine” and “Me.” She also revealed that there are two very unique guests joining her on the collection, actor/comedian/banjo player Steve Martin (on “i hate love”) and legendary percussionist/singer Sheila E. (on “that’s right.”)

“Having chemistry with someone is an incredible, and overwhelming, feeling,” Clarkson said about the record in a statement. “It’s like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad. This album takes you down every path that chemistry could lead you down. There are many stages of grief and loss on this album. Each song is a different stage and emotional state.”

Reviews for "Coldplay Covers Unplugged: Stripped-Down Versions that Will Give You Chills"

1) Jane Smith - 1/5 stars - I was really disappointed with the Magic Coldplay cover. The vocals were weak and off-key, and the band didn't capture the energy and emotion that Coldplay usually brings to their music. It felt like a lackluster and uninspired attempt at covering a great song. I would not recommend this cover to any Coldplay fans.
2) Adam Johnson - 2/5 stars - While the Magic Coldplay cover had some potential, it fell short in execution. The instrumentation was decent, but the lead singer's voice just didn't match up to Chris Martin's distinct vocals. It lacked the same passion and intensity that Coldplay puts into their music. It's hard to recreate the magic of Coldplay, and unfortunately, this cover missed the mark.
3) Sarah Thompson - 2/5 stars - The Magic Coldplay cover was a letdown for me. The band seemed to imitate Coldplay's sound, but it lacked originality and creativity. It felt like they were playing it safe and staying within the boundaries of the original version, which made it feel like a mediocre imitation rather than a unique cover. I was hoping for something fresh and exciting, but unfortunately, this cover fell flat.
4) David Anderson - 1/5 stars - The Magic Coldplay cover was simply terrible. The lead singer's voice was unbearable to listen to, and the band's performance lacked any sort of charm or enthusiasm. It felt like a half-hearted attempt at recreating Coldplay's magic, and it failed miserably. I would not recommend wasting your time on this cover. Stick to the original version by Coldplay if you want to truly experience the magic of the song.
